Extreme Makeover @ Pandan Gardens

Recommended Posts

No, the knob on the right side happened to be pointing to the West for my stove location! As you mentioned in my new post 'Stove & Gua number", knob facing is based on your back direction! If I stand facing South, my right hand side is West. So, this is where my knob is located for West people like me.

Then, if the knobs are on the left, it will be for EAST group people.

In the same standing direction facing South, those knobs at the centre are for for East Group people too, as it will be North direction for the knobs.

Allow me to clarify further. So the facing of the stove is actually determined by the positioning of the knobs panel, not the back of a person (strictly speaking).

Yes, you are right. If you are facing the stove and the knobs are in front of you, then your back is taken as direction of knobs.

Any FS concern for the number of burners? I heard that it is advisable to have 3 burners... not too sure of 4 burners :dunno:

3 and 4 are both Woods element. No problem.

The Living Room with the TV console. The glass block may provide some lights through, but may not provide privacy for the Bedroom. ID has come out with alternative ideas to replace a 2 feet wide frosted glass with shelvings. Let's see what my children comment when they see this drawing for now.

Very nice pictures :good:

A suggestion for you to consider - The TV seems to be placed quite low... how abt mounting it (to make it higher) or increase the height of the base.

The glossy white kitchen cabinet - stove & sink area. May add 2 pieces of frosted glass door above the stove. As I seldom cook at home, will not be installing the cooker hood. Moreover, even if I cook at home, it will be simple stry fry or steam cooking. Children are very health conscious, so don't like Deep Fry stuff! Therefore, I do not need to buy the hood which ended up as 'white elephant', just like my old kitchen hood which was 'idling' in the kitchen and never use at all! In place, ID will install a pelmet below the 2 glass door to prevent fume from sipping through the door gaps while cooking.

There is a gap between the ceiling and the top cabinets. You may want to close up the gap to avoid collecting dust.

Kitchen viewed from another angle showing the window opening to let light in to the dining / living room. Will be changing the door of bottom cabinet to drawers with Blum runners.

Hope your ID has set aside enough space (left and right) for you to open your 2-doors fridge and (most importantly) able to pull out the vegetable and fruit drawers (if any) :).

Bedroom 2 - for the youngest son.

duxe_1a7_uc4it.jpg

Any FS concern for the overhead cove ceiling... it seems to be directly above the bed.

I heard that open book shelf is like a knife. But IMO, i dun agree with it cos they are so many furniture (dinning table, coffee table, tv console, etc) with exposed edges as well. As long as the edges are not sharp then they are alright. Am I right to say that?

My fuzzy youngest son wants his room to be all white and black, against the color theme suggested by my FSM. Headache for me and challenge for ID!

He has too much metal in his birth chart which makes him inflexible and unresponsive to new ideas.

My youngest is Geng Metal, and metal elements are dominating his BaZi chart. A person with his attribute needs to undergo adversities and challenges in order to be solid and useful as he was born into a structure that is in conflict with the season.

No choice for now, but to go according to his Wish! :jail:

No worries. You can play around with his bedsheets and carpet colours... if only he allowed :).

CoffeeMan

Really thank you for your feedback and comments.

There is still space in front of fridge to pull out the vege and fruit drawers.

I met my ID during lunchtime today and heard him telling the tiler to erect 1000mmW for the fridge base (Width of fridge is 894mm) and clearance for doors, especially the right door of the fridge. Left door is not an issue as it is not flushed with the cabinet.

ID was calling me today to discuss the floor tiles which I specifically gave the instruction that I MUST have the first UNBROKEN piece in the CENTER of Main Entrance, and a low curb! So, I better go home (which is 15-20 minutes walking distance) and speak to the tiler personally to avoid mis-communication!

In JY's book, he said don't fret over open shelves. Ofcourse, I don't like open shelves which is confronting us (ie. open door and see open shelves 'greeting' you).

As for the cove lights in the bedrooms, it is acceptable as the space coverage is wide and high. I would be concerned if it is under the beam or heavy objects like some people like to install cabinets above the bed.

You are right; the TV seems to be too low. I will be checking with ID if it can be mounted on the low wall; but it also depends on the height of sofa we are getting. Seems like we have to buy low theme coffee table and sofa. Else, will mount TV on the bracket and increase the height of base console.

Overall, we like the sleek design of the TV console.

Hehe, sorry to kaypoh and giving a comment abit. For viewing comfort, the TV should be at eye level from the sofa. Perhaps, having this in mind will let your ID revised the design accordingly.

Anyway, nice renovation, mae.

Hi, Reiki

Thank you for the valuable feedback and I am taking note of all comments & will discuss it with my ID.

So far, he has been very responsive & he is coordinating the reno works himself personally!

Today, when I was telling the tiler that we have plenty of time, ID immediately disagreed and told the tiler that he should speed up as per schedule.

On a separate issue, I am unhappy with the Aircon guy. When I first met him, I did tell him that I want the pipes to be concealed at side kerb but I never agreed that the pipe laid underneath the floor tiles! Worst still, the pipe outlet was dipping into floor trap, so how am I going to do purging during maintenance?

ID called the aircon guy and conveyed my complaint to him. The aircon guy assured me that he will modify it when floor tiles are ready. I am not listening to his advice and over the weekend, told ID that I am rejecting it & asked that the aircon guy adhered to my suggestion to hide the pipes along the kerbs.

Not sure what other solutions are available to hide those aircon pipes, yet still maintain accessibility for purging?
