Extreme Makeover @ Pandan Gardens

Recommended Posts

Anyone has the procedure for my electrician on how to leave the concealed conduit for future splicing? I don't want to take things for granted and assumed the electrician knows what to do. I prefer that I convey exactly what is expected to avoid issues later on when OpenNet comes to reinstall the terminal box. :help:

Finally received the email with the attachment for 'Concealment Guidelines':

1. Designate a Location:

(i) Designate a particular location, such as a designated closet, where all the telecommunication facilities can be installed within. This will facilitate connections and ensure that the installation can be performed presentably & neatly.

2. Ensure “Conduit or Path” To The Designated Location So That Fibre Can Be Installed

For Condominiums / HDBs / High Rise Residential Homes

  • (ii) Ensure or cater for an empty 20mm uPVC conduit or PVC trunking compartment to the above location (e.g. the closet). The conduit should be installed in straight runs or be able to accommodate bending radius of the central line of the conduit not less than 100mm.
  • (iii) A draw rope shall be provided in the empty conduit so that the fibre cable can be installed subsequently.

For Landed Homes

Ensure 1 empty 50mm diameter uPVC continuous lead-in and underground pipe to be provided from 1m beyond the roadside drain to the designated location.

Ensure that there is a draw rope in the empty conduit so that the fibre cable can be installed subsequently. This will facilitate the installation of fibre into the home & near points of connection.

3. Ensure Accessories At The Designated Location Is Catered For

(iv) Install twin 13A power point/socket at the designated location (e.g. Within the closet), so as to provide power to any equipment.

(v) Install RJ45 patch panel. No. of ports should be greater than the no. of rooms of units.

4. Internal Wiring / Cabling

(vi) Owners are encouraged to install Cat 6 cables for internal cabling from the patch panel to all rooms. This will ensure internal cabling connectivity.

It’s important to note that Unshielded Twisted Pair (Cat 6) cables should not exceed 100m runs from the RJ45 patch panel to the RJ45 wall outlet.

5. Concealed Installation

(vii) In cases of non-straight runs such as bends and obstacles encountered during cable pulling, the owner’s own contractors must be present to carry out the cutting of access panels.

Access panels are recommended to be minimum 450mm x 450mm in size. They can either be removable or permanently sealed after access.

(viii) OpenNet contractors do not carry out removal of downlights or any other form of lighting/accessories attached to the false ceiling. The owner’s contractors must be present to do the necessary, if applicable.

You may want to consider Panasonic Inverter Fridge (4 ticks) - low energy consumption and high in capacity. Those 2 doors (side-by-side) usually has a higher energy consumption.

You are right...energy consumption is higher even with '4 ticks' model.

I was at Court Bukit Timah with my sister last evening and it was 'love' at first sight we saw the White color LG side-by-side fridge (inverter compressor with 10 years warranty). As ID is considering pure glossy white for my kitchen cabinet, and coupled with the location for fridge is at the dark corner of the kitchen, I decided to go for White colour fridge and eventually, like the LG model, again, for asthetics reason!

Original price is $1,599 but bought at discounted price of $1,399 with 2 free gifts.

Your main door seems to be very near to the lift. Hope that your FSM has given you a remedy to counteract the EM wave when the life is ready.

If there is EM wave emits from the lifts, we can mitigate the effect by placing some plants, like those Chinese called "Iron" plants. For those staying in condominiums whereby your main door is sandwiched between two lifts, you can place those "cactus" plant and tie the top of plant with red ribbon.

I have the habit of putting plants by the side of our main entrance. :D

Hope the wall which your neighbour hacked is not the structural member affecting the foundation!

It's an overhead beam. He got it certified by a civil engineer to hack.

Wow! It's a cool fridge with inverter compressor. :good:

Why is there a need to tie the top of the plant w red ribbon? To empower the plant with more power to lessen the EM wave? I saw my neighbour doing that.

I guess this post will help all home owners to prepare for OpenNet to install the Terminal Box, and the installation of cables from the patch panel to all rooms which most people forgotten to cater for.

This size is good. I can now visualise your house when looking at those reno photos :)

Two doors from a HDB flat! This is something new to me. Your master bedroom extension has made it bigger (which is better than before).

Cactus plant itself has sharp thorns, so tie something red for good. Just like Chinese New Year, Chinese still like RED. We also bring 2 oranges to visit friends & relatives, surely you won't bring along 2 durians during Chinese New Year, tio-bo? :o

Showing here again is the tiles colour scheme for the common toilet. Ignore the accessories, as the picture is sent from White Horse, the place we bought the tiles.

I was posting my comments intensively at the Geomancy / FengShui section recently.

One most important statement I wish to post on my own T-Blog is this:

"Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action."

This is a Quote by the British Statesman and literary author, Benjamin Disraeli.

You see it is very true!

Everything that happened around us has domino effects: Actions which were taken by us or by others.

If we want something in life, we have to take action, without it nothing will happen. We can sit around and bemoan the sad state of affairs we are in or we can be proactive (instead of reactive) and start making positive changes to our lives.

One of the FSM ever said this: If destiny hands us a raw deal, we can make lemonade out of a lemon!!!

My electrical works cost nearly $5000! :o

First quote was like $4.3K, due to many cove lights, socket points, SCV point, SingTel point, etc. Very kiasu, get all the points ready for the all the service providers!

Now, there are more additions: I am paying extra to change all sockets (single and double) to those 2-pin friendly type (initial estimate from electrician is $9 extra for single socket, and $16 more for double sockets). I have previously installed the 2-pin friendly socket bought from Sheng Siong, the brand name is NCE Advance Electrical, and I pay over $20 for each socket!

I am also getting PE endorsement for the electrical installations. Kiasu & kiasi :P

On top of that, I am asking the electrician to connect the Cat 6 cable to all rooms including additional network cable in the living for future connectivity to the fibre optic terminal box.
