january 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) Hey everton I don't think that's the right link for the images. I think you need to get another link for forums from the side bar. Anyway I really appreciate you taking the pics for me! (even though I can't see it yet). ngunadi I have an abstract painting by a Balinese artist which I bough some years back, but have yet to frame it up because l haven't found a space to hang it up yet. But I finally have a place to hang it now and I'll need to frame it up soon, canvas wrap style. Do you mind sharing with me the places that you've contacted so I can go ask. Much appreciated Edited November 11, 2010 by january

manutd1972 1 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 Link not working. I bought 2 paintings in Bali direct from artist. 2 paintings cost IDR 350000 (or S$50). Have yet to frame them cuz can't find the place to frame in reasonable price. dun frame. it'll look nicer without frames. oil canvas paintings look better without frames when placed in homes. frames are better used when the painting is displayed in a museum. january 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 Oh that's because you're signed into your own account... I can see them now! I can definitely understand how can you buy 9 paintings in one go. The 4 portraits are rather quirky, I like them.

The artist is obviously a 'chain smoker'. see how despondent he looks in the picture where he doesn't have a cigarette.

january 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2010 everton, I thought he looked rather happy actually? ngunadi I asked the framer in my neighbourhood about the canvas wrap framing... For a 1.5m x 1m piece I think it's roughly $120. I haven't asked anywhere else so I don't know if that's reasonable, but it's certainly an amount I can swallow. yapyap 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2010 thanks. that one cost me $50. USD right.. saw alot of these in hanoi.. nice place to shop for canvas oil arts if you are into them.. some of them go for a few grand in singapore.. i luv the ballerina ones.. there are alot of copy cats for the famous paintings.. well... it is the biggest form of flattery for the establish artisits.. i bot one there for 300usd.. it is selling for the same artist here for 3k at one of the art gallery... vietnam art has been in vogue for the last 5 years and has appreciated in value if you are also looking into investment in the right artist.. (not the toss out type... lol) some galleries you can visit but they are all lined up on the same street.. http://www.apricot-artvietnam.com/biography.asp?CID=7 http://www.thavibu.com/vietnam/index.htm again.. these are more famous viet artists and the prices are correspondingly steep.. the upcoming young artist who are still in school (if you have an eye for them) are alot cheaper as they try to establish themselves.. search for dao-hai-phong..he is one of the more famous.. prices has appreciated alot in recent years.. very very nice.. but too expensive for me.. http://www.google.com.sg/images?hl=en&...440&bih=

Artist is Binh(sp) I believe. My friend bought one of his paintings when we were there too. She's a pretty avid art collector and bought some better known paintings. Me, I just need to fill my walls.
