manutd1972 1 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 i'm using both LED and T5. Some places use LED strips, some others use T5. Unfortunately, cant' comment yet cos still undergoing reno. Haven't install yet, so don't know the difference in effect, if any. But in terms of purchasing cost, it's not that much higher for LED strips. Usual price is $30-$35 per metre, and you'll need a transformer, typically about $30. Cheapest T5 that I found is $14-$15 per 4ft piece.

I have just install LED strips light to my parents home TV console, the cheapest got from Sim Lim Tower at $16 per meter. If I want to get those brighter, at least I pay $23 per meter and my new flat whole ceiling all around about 20m cost about $500+ inclusive transformer. Of course I think it will not be as bright as T5 lamp, but I think the ambience is nicer. I can still use the downlight as main lighting. But watching TV, some soft light on the ceiling is nicer. Any comment?

For cove lighting, warm white is advicable and it's look good even if you wall colour is white !
