bentwy 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 Finally got the time to sit down and return to this forum after gaining so much information from it the last two months. Basically wanted a functional space while using a few resort design elements. The real problem of a resort design is they are usually holiday spaces and not living spaces, and it is seriously difficult to have large palm leaves as wall motiffs that are larger than your wardrobe. So for me furniture and lighting will play a big part in creating those design elements. The reno is of today almost complete. Expecting handover within the next week in fact. bentwy 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 Living Area raised on Platform. Laminated Flooring. Off white yellowish wall paints. L box with simple downlights to cast limited glow off the walls. Furniture will be mostly walnut teak with contrasting white/biege upholstery. Reverse angle of Living Area. Bedroom on the right with "glassed walls" to create the illusion of space, without seeming too much like a fish tank. I never really liked the whole wall as glass kind of look. bentwy 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 View from Dining area. Homogeneous tiles but non glazed. Colors turned out very close the laminates, which was a pleasant surprise. I prefer touches of color which would really attract rather than too many attractive colors all crying for attention. Some people call this boring. Sorry about the blurness. Kitchen from door perspective. Cabinet doors are not up yet. So the Orange wood things you see are the interior laminates. The greyish brown portions are the real outer-surface laminates. They have a nice texture to it. The walls are cement screed and was quite smoothly done up. The light on top will be changed don't worry. Will post more pics once I have them! My ID suggested 'glassed walled' for my guestroom but just didn't have the courage to go ahead with it. Yours is well done and I like the portruded wooden ledge out to your dining area. Our ID highly encouraged us to go for such an open concept and we grew to like it. But, it was largely because we needed a bigger space for our doggie to do her business, under the vanity. Ahh... you have a doggie... makes sense now.... but it's still very brave of you to do a open concept for the loo. Nice decor pieces too... where do you get your deco/art pieces from? any particular place? I'll be making a trip to bali to relax and of course look for some pieces for my new place... The laminate has a really nice wood grain, and had a strong greyish tone to it. Would look okay with the blackish glass we chose for the hob, oven, microwave oven and the dish rack.
