Since moving in, I have killed 5 cockroaches (with Baygon spray) - I'm terrified of them and will spray them from a long distance away.

Has anyone tried this product - Ultimate AT pest controller? It's supposed to use ultrasonic technology to drive the insects away. Do I need to buy one for every storey?

my hubby tried the ultrasonic type before, but it was for mosquitoes, not cockroaches... he said not very useful leh. and if you are very sensitive to sound, you may hear a constant, faint humming sound in the background (this could be brand dependent, not sure...)

Did you try the old fashion way of sticking cockroach baits like combat on every corner of the house?

Seems to work for me but nonetheless there's always this occassional 1 or 2.

I've given up on baygon since it kind of mess up the whole house chasing that cockroach. We usually just roll up the newspaper and whack.

I pour 1 kettle of boiling water (5 litres) into every floor trap and sink in the house. This neutralises all the cockroach eggs laid inside the pipes, and kills any babies. It also neutralizes the cockroach scent trails. Cockroaches nest in the pipes. Get them there with hot boiling water once a week.

When cockroaches walk across a path, they leave a scent that other cockroaches follow as a signal that the path is safe. Where there is no scent, cockroaches feel unsafe and avoid... unless they are disorientated.

This has effectively reduced cockroach sightings from once every week to none at all. It helps also that I leave no food lying around overnight. Everything is washed and put away.

Roaches can stay alive and active as long as there is moisture. It is best that you keep the place free of water. When there is no food source and water (esp water), roaches will automatically find the place inhabitable.
