very nice...what about the exterior? :)

you have 2 ovens?!

Exterior did not do much so no pics was taken.

One oven is steam oven and the other is conventional. My wife thought it looks nice with 2 ovens although she cannot bake...

Nice reno! Love the glass around your house, especially the glass room above the dining area.

thanks. The glass room is newly made. Previously it was just a balcony overlooking the living room. As we cannot live without air con, we decided to box it up so we can air con the small place. Now it is quite useful as a TV room for my wife. Small place so easy to aircon.

Picture perfect!! Indeed, it is such a clean lined renovation and interiors. Nicely done, wind30.

Hehe, [just my opinion] think your wife did the right thing to change the staircase. It now looks contemporary and modern and give a sense of space. It enhances and compliments the overall beauty and ambience to the whole house as one enters it.

To you and family, enjoy the stay in the house! I believe, it is always a good feeling coming home after a tired day of work.

.. haha, and I can just drool looking at all the pictures.

Thanks for your comments

ya the new staircase does fit the new design better but redoing staircase is very expensive.

In the end we changed almost every single thing, all the floors, cabinets, roof, etc. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth the money. We could have moved in with 1/2 the cost of what we spent. At least we treat our home very gently. Our first home looks new even after 5 years.

Now we are just looking for decorating stuff, like paintings and stuff to make the toilets look better.

Phew, this is mind blowing!

Showhouse standard; I thought I was flipping thru' Home and Decor magazine.

Are the bedroom floorings laminated or teak timber strips ? Any acoustics insulation to the home theater room ?

Congrats and enjoy your stay.

How big is the damage for redoing the staircase?

I think it was around 12k for the railings and 9k for the floor. + probably some more for hacking...

The bedroom floorings are teak timber strips but I am beginning to regret as gaps/cracks are beginning to show between the strips. I am not sure if I should went for laminates instead.

There are no acoustic treatment done for the HT. I am thinking of doing something about the front three speakers set in the false wall. now it is just the audessey EQ

We're thinking of changing the staircase too (ours looks like your old one!!).

Which contractor did you use?

Did you use stainless steel or iron?

It is stainless steel with 12mm temper glass.

BTW, the staircase quote was supposedly too low. That was what my contractor said. He said he calculate too short length but he never changed it after we started.

my contractor is Kenneth from SKL construction.

http://dir.bca.gov.sg/bca/CompanyDetail.as...mp;ID=52930376X

He does all the wetworks but the design/woodwork is done by by his sister, Jenn (www.dejenn.com).

I got to know him through Jenn who did the reno for my first house 5 years back.

A frank assessment of the worksmanship.

Woodwork is good and we enjoyed working with Jenn.

The tiling is good for marble and toilet wall tiles. the tiler is very detailed and meticulous. But I thought the marble polishing was so-so. There are still some foggy patches which is visible at certain angles. Wooden flooring is not good, I thought that subcon did not take pride in his work. The staircase subcon boss is quite on and comes and check quite a few times the quality of his workers work so not too bad.

Guess the price is ok considering the length (for 3 storey) and its much more visible since you've double height at the living area. Well worth it.

Is the steps on your original staircase parquet or teak planks?

I have the same staircase but most of it is hidden behind a wall, and the steps are single planks.

The original steps is parquet. The contractor says if you remove the railing, you need to change the flooring as it will be quite ugly to patch up.

you mean your old or new steps are single plank? Single plank is expensive. I think it was $2xx for one step.

Are you done with your reno? Any pics? :)
