staircase.

I wanted to keep the old staircase as I think it was probably quite good with all the big wooden pillars and they actually have wood covering all over the place. It was probably quite expensive when it was originally done. And redoing the staircase was expensive. But my wife hated the old staircase so we changed it.

The new staircase is more modern look with much less wood covering.

nope. The design for this toilet was tough because the toilet bowl cannot move as we do not want to do coring to shift the sewage.

And there wasn't many bathtubs left because we were looking at ex-stock as we did not have time to place a new order for bathtubs.

In the end it was either the double vanity OR the shower area. We chose the double vanity as this toilet is more for "display" and we will not be using it. The double vanity helps to make the MBR looks even bigger.

In fact we only use the ground floor toilet in the whole house :)

Wow what a luxury to have MBR bathroom for 'display'. Indeed it looks bigger and brighter too. Shifting the sewage will cost a bomb. Looking at your bath tub location, won't be able to shower without wetting the bathroom.

Thanks. I missed it. Your place has 2 bedrooms and 1 utility room or are there more floors upstairs?

posted the wrong pic, missed out one floor. Fixed the link.

We have three bedrooms upstairs. The living room is double height.

yup. We decided from day one to used only one toilet so the design for the MBR toilet focused on look rather than useability.

What to do, we don't have a domestic helper. really no time to clean house and take care of 2 year old girl.

Children room. We hacked away the old cabinet and added a loft bed. We did not like the normal double decker style as I find sleeping on the lower deck very oppressive. I think this arrangement is better for the person sleeping below. And the bed on top is currently a "guest" bed since we only have one kid.

Childrens room toilet.

We swopped the position of the vanity and shower because we liked the vanity facing the toilet door. But the causes a problem for the shower screen door which may be blocked by the toilet bowl. In the end we combined the shower area with the toilet bowl.

Living room. We had some trouble looking for a nice place to put our Kuanyin as it needed to face the door. In the end we made a divider for it. The sofa set and coffee table are the only few "old" stuff we moved from our previous place. We really liked the sofa set which is quite durable and is around 5 years old.

Spare room. We combined the orginal yard into the spare ground floor room. This is the only layout change we made to the whole house. This is the room we used the most often as it has my computer and our day bed.
