Halo,

It's time to get to know your neighbour (and their doggy).. Stop by and introduce yourself and your folks.. Their doggy will get to meet you too, then once the doggy is familiar with you & family by scent ( may take a few visits) , it will only wag its tail each time you pass, no bark.

Also, it can help jagga your house for you too since yours is a corrdor end unit.. it's good to have good neighbours if you are one yourself..

Better to have a good neighbour with doggy, than to have one with roudy & doddgy, creepy habits. Your call.

Hi rainforest, thanks for the advice. We will certainly do a formal introduction when we officially move in. Good turn-around thinking you have pointed there. Since mine is a corner unit, my neighbour dog will be like my guard dog!! kekeke.. must let him smell me more often. :yamseng:

frankly, i would selflessly share contacts with anyone. ID are all salesman who know how to smooth talk, if they can offer u at $X, they can offer anyone at $X, its just whether they want to or not. One example, a friend of mine works at those mega electronics store (think Best, Harvey norman, etc). Their salesman are all given a base price to sell the product, which is a significant discount from the listed price, meaning they can give anyone a low price but giving everyone a low price would eat into their sales revenue.

having a spouse who comes from a sales background also gave me great insights on how sales are done...

besides, i have benefitted from contacts given to me, if not who would know where to get good deals? So why hesitate in sharing?

Day 06 - Masonry (PArt 3)

Big progress for masonry work for Day 06. All hollow block walls for storeroom (14ft), studyroom (16ft) and kitchen (9ft) were completed. Wall tiles for both bathrooms and whole kitchen were done up too. Left only the waterproof membrance and floor tiles for kitchen, both bathrooms, storeroom and foyer.

Apology that i don't have any photos to share because the place was too dark yesterday night when i went there.

I also noted that all my bedrooms floor tiles which will be overlayed with Pergo Family laminate flooring are super muddy and dirty. Hairline cracks are more visible than before. I'm quite worried that this will affect my laminate flooring overlay quality. I hope the workers will clean up the floor tiles prior the overlaying.

I guess you can arrange the laminate flooring guy to come after you have acid wash the flooring (during acid wash, they will be able to clean away te dirts and some harden cements). For me, I only laid the laminate flooring after the ascid wash. It will be also cleaner and dirts are not trapped inside the laminate floorings.

so u decided that u would lay laminates over your new tiles in bedroom? If i m not wrong, the laminate guys would need to hack off the skirting as skirting cannot "overlay"...

Haha. No la. I am overlaying over the old exisiting tiles. Why wanna re do new tiles for overlaying?? Haha

Yes, you need to hack off the existing tile skirting not the floor tiles so as the wooden skirting can be installed by the laminate floor guy. The hacking of the existing tile skirting are either done by the laminate floor guy (part of the laminate floor package if you are taking it not from the contractor) or the main contractor. For my case, it is from the laminate floor guy.

Opps. This is the older quote. Latest wont have hackinf floor tiles for bedrooms. Anyway, i saw the skirting for all bedrooms for overlay lamini have been hacked off. Think my id know i am doing overlay, tt why he hacked away for me. =)

Day 8 - Masorny Work

Windows all done up. Wanna check with you guys how u guys check on the windows workmanship. For my case, i noted the following:

1. Casement handles a bit skinny thin and frenzy. Machiam can break it when used too much force on them.

2. Sliding windows can shake when i sldie them. I could also lift up the windows a bit from the sliding track, and ccould feel that they are not tighly fit in.

3. I requested for casement handles with lock. But Alex told me that casement handles don't come with locks one. But i remembered from one thread that owner requested locks for all casement handles and Alex agreed. :huh:

4. I also noted the window guy chipped off a palm size of my concrete wall off the living room window area. should i ask them to plaster back the hole, or leave it to my ID's guys to seal up when they do whole house plastering?

Day 8 - Masorny Work

I asked my ID, wife and twin brother to check the windows work over the past few days. They said i am over-reacting. hahaha.. i guess probably I am loaded with reno anxiety. Anyway, alex and Vincent came over to explain the windiows to me personally. Really appreciate their kind efforts to explain the windows queries I have.

Tmr we will go n buy main door and wrought iron gate. main door still not sure whether to go Yontat or Singtat. Wrought iron gate most probably going to CNS at AMK.

If only the kitchen wall is half height wall cum glass, the whole living room will be very chio with natural bright ligh shinning in all the way from kitchen. but budget low, and for practical reason (cleaning of glass after daily heavy cooking), we decided to proceed with wall with tiles. ;)
