oops! My bad! not urban style, should be country style.

I love country style deco & furniture very much. They give me a very cozy and homey feeling. I ll try to find some pictures to upload later.

However, it's not very popular in Singapore, which made our hunting for furniture is a very difficult experience. I can find some teak furniture of bali style. But our new home is not that big. Thus I prefer light color furniture. White wooden will be the best.

Anyway, my family visited several country furniture stores & factory outlet this afternoon. Just share some experiences and location of those factory outlets:

1. Picket & Rail Factory Outlet‎

566 Woodlands Road S(728697)

Tel:6362 2096

They claimed they are genuine American country style furniture which is made from Malaysia rubber tree. The price is ok, if the wood is really of at least 30 years old claimed by the sales person. In the factory outlet, there are also many home accessories in their factory outlet.

2. Scanteak

60 Sungei Kadut Drive, Singapore 729569

Phone: +65 6365 9121

It's a quite famous brand of teak furniture. However, their furniture are all in one color, which I think it's more suitable for outdoor patio.

3. Country furniture

62 Sungei Kadut Loop Singapore 729507. Tel (65) 6569 6988

They don't have any website. Only one showroom located at the 3rd level of IFC.

They provide various color of country style furniture. I like their design and the price seems ok. It's just I never heard of this brand before so kinda worry their quality and service.

There are several type of country style. I am uploading the picture to explain.

1. Traditional American country style furniture:

Dark in color, big in size. If your home is not big enough, I suggest you give up this style coz it will make your house looked more crowded.

2. Mediterranean style

Use a lot of blue & white color; I never see any Mediterranean style furniture in Singapore. However, it's extremely popular in Chinese young family. I probably will ship some small item from China to do the soft deco part of my new home.

3. Korea style furniture:

white, wooden, usually decorated with flowers. You can see it in korean drama. Girls usually cannot resist this kind of style furniture.

My personal favorite is Mediterranean style, which need a lot of soft decoration. I plan to buy them from China, then ship here. Still have no idea where to start. But got to find some very unique, beautiful and interesting soft decorations!

I see what you mean now.

I think you may be able to find some suitable pieces at Manhattan Collection. They're at 116 Lavender St, #01-02.

I'm not too sure about this, I think you can ask them to paint the furniture blue. Just bring your pictures along to the shop.

Country style furniture was the rage in Singapore in the early 90s. There were loads of stores selling such furniture. Many have since closed. One well known store was Pennsylvania House ( I think that was what it was called. it sold mainly country and American style furniture) which ran into some serious financial trouble that was reported in the press. They took deposits on their furniture right up to the day before they shut down and never delivered or returned buyers' deposits either.

Sorry I can't help much in terms of where to get such furniture. the only one I've heard of is at IFC at Sungei Kadut, but you already know of that one.
