vratenza 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2010 Hi all, I am considering getting a digital lock for my new place and sort of narrowed down to a few brands and models. 1) As my door's lock-set and the latch/handle is separate similar to this: I think I have only 2 options: A) replace the lock-set with Digital Mortise lock without handle (and retain the latch/handle part) eg. Samsung SHS-3120 B) Remove the lock-set and fill up the hole. Replace the latch/handle with Digital Mortise lock with handle. eg. Samsung SHS-5120 Which one is more secure and practical? 2) My front door is basked in the hot sun from noon till sunset (direct rays from mid afternoon), as well possibly some splash of rain in heavy thunderstorm when the wind is strong..... the digital lock will need to withstand some tough conditions! From what I read, the maximum operating temperature for some of the locks are at 55 degrees celsius. So I am a little concern with regards to the feasibility of installing any of the above mentioned digital locks on my front door under such harsh condition. Anyone with experience in the above qns? Thanks!!
vratenza 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2010 Your lock case is call the single grip lock. If you were to purchase SHS 3120 rim lock. i will not replace the dead blot lock as it wil hit the handle. I will recommend my customers base on their needs and not which is the best lock. If your lock is still new or function normally. You may get a rim lock like gateman F10 or SHS 1320 to add above your single grip lock. You can double lock it when you travel oversea. If your lock is faulty then you can consider the SHS 5120 to replace it. Majority of the customer will get the rim lock becuase it is affordable. If you are interested in the lock you may contact me, i carry both samsung and gateman lock with installation at affordable price. 98307788 Can I leave the dead bolt lock on top and change the handle to 6020/5120? will it fit?
