There are things that you have to be certified for or you cannot do (by HDB rules). Two that spring to mind would be hacking and electrical rewiring. There are certain requirement on each job and approval is a must associating with major works. Perhaps minor works still can be DIY. Just my two cents. Thanks... i tink it is possible, but u need to be proficient in the workflow, ie, what comes first, what follows next, if something goes wrong, what is the followup and remedy. coordination is vital. even if u get the workflow correct, finding the right contractor to do may take lots of time and effort... haulage is what they charge for removal/transport of demolished debris and new building material, eg, sand, cement, tiles, etc...
