Eurypylus 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2010 Your ID quote you every small bit and pieces like disconnect existing wash basin. You can try to ask for details like what wood are use in those laminated furniture... guarantee to scare you off. Do your study, for electrical wiring see the difference between parallel and ring circuit. For pipe check out Australia copper pipe with copper joint versus whatever they provide you. For furniture, ask what type of wood they use... Many ppl are like my wife that want thing that looks good at the start, but qns is how long will they last. blueyme 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 (edited) Mine is a new 4-room HDB. For shower kerbs and cabinet kerbs, i am supplying the tiles and he lowered his rate to as above. What are the questions abt materials that I should ask? And what material should I go for based on this quote that he gave me since it cant be lowered any further? What should I take out from the quote and can easily pass to another person to do without repurcussion? Appreciate if can send me the contacts of reliable person to do the work also. Coz I dont want to bargain with him for discounts since he already said he tried his best already and I have already signed and paid deposit to him. blueyme 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 Would i still need to do any wiring costs?
chronograph 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2010 New hdb flat is preinstalled with sockets and switches, wire lighting point. If u have no additional lighting point or sockets then it is about it. Just need to pay for installing lighting, $8 to $15 per lighting. Eg, if your ID proposed additional spot light / down light, then u have to factor the cost of running the wire and instaling the light point. Would i still need to do any wiring costs? Eurypylus 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2010 Anyone knows if I have to top up to round the skirting top? How much wld it be? If you are talking about slightly smooth up the edge, it should be part and parcel to the tiling works.
tecklok 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2010 Hi Blueyme I have been going to quite a no. of ID firm but have not find one that i'm satisfied with their design of the divider in our living room. I noticed that you have a option 2 to Design & fabricate 4ft(L) x 8.5ft(H) divider w/ laminate c/w glass finishing as per design proposed **** area. May i know whether will u be going ahead with the divider, if so, do u mind sharing the designs that your ID has propose? Thanks
blueyme 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2010 If you are talking about slightly smooth up the edge, it should be part and parcel to the tiling works. It's to prevent dust from collecting on top. It will be a quadrant shape. Id says will cost another $500 at least

Coz it makes the living room much smaller and without any flexibility in the future.
Eurypylus 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2010 It's to prevent dust from collecting on top. It will be a quadrant shape. Id says will cost another $500 at least I see your point, I was planning for no skirting due to the same possible "collect dust" issue, then my dad and my contractor keep blasting me with issue of mobbing the floor and dirty the wall. A few hundred in your case if you can take it easy should not be an issue... pay a bit more and it save you trouble for a long long time. Sometimes in life we give and take a bit lah, after spending in 10k notes... a few hundred don't feel any pain at all. Do post some picture after its done, I may copy cat the same ;-)
