Revamp Of A 40yo 3rm Pigeonhole...

Recommended Posts

that's what I suspected. haha. :thumbs up:

though wasn't sure as the bathroom seems quite small to have a sink. too used to bigger toilets liao.

You mind taking a pic?

depending on ur size of bathroom, mine is far larger than the WC, but the sink i bot is a tad small, which can be slightly wider (and yet dun block the bi-fold doors and deeper to accomodate the entire face :D

Glass door is still as good as new, almost everyday I draw them close when turning on aircon in the living room. :)

haha... you ever accidentally 'walked' into it?

btw, I just see your kitchen photo again, and while I know you got reduce the size, it seems really small. Even if I don't cook, I do plan on having at least a microwave oven, or toaster... but you don't seem to have space for that.

the glass comes with frosted film, so far no accidents yet. A small oven can be placed next to the fridge or a mw oven next to the kitchen sink (the corner). that's the price for extending the living room into the kitchen as time spent in the kitchen is considerably less.

If really require space, the tiled wall opposite the cabinet can install a collapsing/foldable table

So has the clear acrylic sheet been effective?

Balance payment of outstanding reno cost is finally settled, after settling on some minor defects and deducting certain items in the signed quotation that was not done/installed/supplied... after a little bit of nudging for more discounts to round down the final amount, both parties happily settled with one lumpsum of $$$...

Some appraisals about this contractor I chose. On a scale of 10 pts,

Efficiency = 9

Followup = 8.5

Creativity = 7.5

Responsiveness = 8

Overall workmanship = 8.5

Wall tiling = 8.5

Floor tiling = 8.5

Plumbing = 8.5

Electrical = 9

Glassworks = 8

Ceiling works = 9

Door works = 8

Grille works = 7.5

Window works = 8

Painting = 8.5

Accomodating to requests = 8

Project planning = 8.5

Value for money = 8

Additional works done FOC/out of goodwill = 7.5

After-sales service = 8 (he still sent me a CNY greeting card wor.... <img src="http://www.renotalk.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> )

Overall 8.5

Will I hire him in future? Yes

Of cos, the above are based purely on my opinion, YMMV.

disclaimer though, I dun benefit anything from posting this t-blog at all, just to share my reno experience with Alan. as always, one needs to manage expectations well to ensure an amicable working relationship between flat-owners and contractors/IDs.

Edit: As of now, there are a couple of RTers who have signed and completed projects with him.... last known count was five and their might be more which i'm not aware of...

Hello!! I would like to have Alan's contact if you don't mind giving me? I also have the same layout as you & got a ID quoted me 35k for overhaul of my place!! :jawdrop: I only have 25k budget leh..

Hey Neubie, wanna ask you if you know anything about aircons? I tot of having aircons in the 2 BRs.. inverted/non-inverted? Necessary to purchase an non-inverted one if mostly only 1 BR is used at one time. The other one would probably be used on & off..
