It's been a while since I updated this.......120 days after installation of TP, and payment made, finally received email from OpenNet as below:

Recently, you may have contacted OpenNet's call centre about the status of your fibre Termination Point installed in your home and left your details with us. We're pleased to inform you that your residential premise is ready to be activated for ultra-high speed broadband services.

OpenNet is the appointed contractor to build and manage the passive network of the Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (or Next Gen NBN). If you are interested in fibre broadband services, please visit or contact your preferred Retail Service Provider (RSP) to sign up.

- Delivery of sink, taps, etc (21 Sept)

- AC rewiring (22 Sept, 16 Oct)

- Windows (23 Sept)

- Plumbing/aircon piping & condenser installation (24 Sept)

- Ceiling works (28 Sept, 29 Sept)

- Painting works (01 Oct, 02 Oct)

- Installation of aircon FCU (02 Oct)

- Lighting and switches installation (05 Oct)

Hi.. just to check if you have photos of your OpenNet wiring and installation?

Where did u install? I am going to start reno soon and just nice OpenNet is able to come in March as well.

So I am thinking when is the best time for them to come. Please advise. Thks!!

You can refer to page 4 of my t-blog for the installation pics. The fiber TP is located next to my main circuit breaker within the full-height cabinet in my living room…

Ring up opennet for appointment first (in view of their bz schedule, it's best to take whatever timeslot they give u), then arrange with ur contractor/ID to coordinate with them so that they complete the trunking n conduits before u do ur false ceiling/cornices/cabinet to conceal them.

thats lucky of you! i have to wait for rescheduling of openet installation cos my timing is not right. At first it seems to be nice timing for reno and openet installation together. But by the time they finishing hacking and tiling, the installation run has ended. So have to wait for 2nd run

As I am not sure how it works, just to check that you will place your wireless router inside the full-height cabinet (next to the Fiber TP) to transmit internet signal?

Or how does it work? I am intending to also install that fiber TP next to the circuit breaker.

Also, saw this photo below, you got 4xsockets inside the cabinet, just curious, what is that for? your router and all? Thks!!

ONT - optical network terminal - box that converts optical signal from opennet to LAN electrical signals for use in pc. Provided by retail service providers.

NAS - network attached storage - hard disk storage connected in a network so multiple pc can access/share music/picture/video/document files.

long time no update... take note for opennet subscription, the RSPs will impose on some contractual lock-in period that can't be terminated. early termination comes with hefty penalty charges.

opennet imposes a strict rule of tying fibre subscription to the residential address, NOT to the MAC address of the ONT. Existing starhub MOL customers can bring their cable modem to any place (with cable connection) and continue to use (since starhub MOL ties subscription to the modem hardware address).

so if u intend to shift house during the contract period, u can't ask them to transfer subscription to the new place, either have to pay penalty charges or wait till the contract ends.

my wc is too small to to install heater n shower head there...not sure but why you wanna do this? to have heated water when washing bottoms when biz done?
