i still have some extra trunking left, so no problems on that. but for the cables, RJ45 faceplates, box casings and the connectors etc where can i buy them? sim lim tower/ sim lim square have? or any recommendations? then i saw in your diagram that you use a buffalo wireless router? do i have to buy that or can i use the standard huawei router that comes along with the OpenNet installation? a bit confused here..

bingo. cables can buy from LHS (look for Robert), faceplates can try DavJones at basement 1 of SLT. you can either use ur own router or ISP-provided huawei RG. but note there has been some negative reviews on this 100base-T router.

u have lots of hacking got to be done, and u got the lbox for the whole house, can you tell me 26k including everything (exclude lighting, sanitary, acc)?

Prices you see here are very detailed liao. Reno cost excludes fixtures, lighting, sanitary, white goods, etc) and include aircon. If exclude aircon, it is 23k.

See if ur con or ID can match or better the offer, lagi for u

incidentally my contractor called me up, chatted with me, he promised to do up some bedroom furniture after CNY, he was telling me one of the flat-owner's 3rm took >2mths and still flooring not complete! being a helpful guy, he offered to help out that poor owner to speed up the reno, provided the owner asks his tortoise ID to terminate their existing contract, and he takes over.... no doubt it is really big hassle (sure lots of 手尾 with not much profit) to takeover some half-past-six job, but he's prepared to go thru all that dirty job just to deliver his promise ....

waaa, he really kind leh. hard to find such conractor nowadays. does he do only carpentry work only? i also thinking of doing some carpentry work **** room there. e.g. full height shoes cabinet with a seatee. =)

Tore down the entire stolmen to relocate the pole system, found another place which causes the vibrating noise… it's the darned piece of 3mm rear chipboard that's inserted at the end of the drawer cabinet. That huge thin piece will start resonating once the drawers are closed or I slightly bump on the drawer…

Solution was to use silicon seal around the perimeter gaps such that they no longer vibrate freely, and that really solved the problem…

Conclusion

When installing stolmen systems, the following items are recommended for a sturdy and silent experience

1. Clamp on the joint parts

2. Apply silicone caulking around the edges of the rear 3mm chipboard

3. Upgrade with better runner tracks (optional, if funds allow)

went ikea last sat. mind already set to buy stolment. but the ikea guy told me that slotment not advisable for false ceiling area. i called my ID. he said can, no problem one. But his only concern is Ikea's stolment way too cheap, and may have problem with flase ceiling....

since u r the only person i know who have installed stolment, do u think it will work for my flase ceiling? ID said he will need to place a panel of wood inside the flase ceiling after CNY. as this is incur labour to cut the false ceiling, insert wood, paste back ceiling and re-paint it again, i will need to pay $$. arghzzzz....

i really want this stolment....very very much...

Stolmen provides pipe clamps for situations where u can't extend the pole to the ceiling, eg false ceilings, the pipe clamps are mounted to the wall to secure the poles… see earlier pics.

ikea supplied the soft-closing runner tracks, but quality is not as good as blum.... close with slamming noise gotta find out where are the impact areas and apply rubber bumper tapes to mute the slamming sound....

done up for the drawer skeleton.... top shelf with clothes rail immediately below...

completed with drawer....

when the entire module is complete, perform another final check on the X-Y axes of the pole top and bottom....

once happy, drill the three holes in the ceiling to secure the pole and start loading up all the clothes..... haaaa

next phase of modular extension will be done at a later date..... :P

More details on OpenNet first-time booking

For flats that have not been home-reached, OpenNet will mail owners a User ID and Password to register for the free first-time installation. Arrangement of schedule can either be done by:

(1) calling them at 6563 4273

(2) using the supplied self-addressed biz reply envelope

(3) online

I have applied for my installation of my parents' place via online. The steps are as follows:

1. Go to https://public.opennet.com.sg/abs-web/login and you will see the prompt below:

Log onto the system using the supplied User ID and Password. Click Login.

2. Upon successful login, you will see the below:

Fill in ALL the required details. Important: enter your HP number so that a Verification Code will be SMSed to you shortly. Click Confirm Details once complete.

3. Enter the Verification Code as received. Take note their SMS server may take a longer time to send to you. Enter the Verification Code and click Validate My Code.

4. You will be presented with the next screen to choose your schedule. The list of available timing will be shown to you. The system is based on first-come-first-served. Schedules that is available is shown. Everyday there will be 4 timeslots for OpenNet subcontractors to do installation. Example, on 12 March 2011 there are only 3 timeslots, meaning the 9am ~ 11am is booked by someone else. Click on your preferred date and time.

I choose 19 March 2011 9am ~ 11am. Click Book Appointment to confirm or Cancel to select another timing.

5. Once done, you will be receiving an acknowledgment reply and a confirmation email (email address that you specify earlier) indicating your address and schedule.

You may print out the confirmation for reference. Then just wait for the actual day before they do installation. On that day of installation, OpenNet subcon will contact you again.

For more info on installation, refer to their attached booklet in the mail.
