Revamp Of A 40yo 3rm Pigeonhole...

I just signed my quotation yesterday. Final quotation at 25787. Redo whole 3 unit except for windows and main door (as fire proof door too expensive to replace). Using a contractor to do my reno..

Ironically it didn't hit me to check on the NEA DB piror my fridge purchase. (It was 4 ticks though)

Guess, we really love the design and functions of the fridge.

And then, i take a step back and thought, "wth, why spent so much time and calculating the Watts saving of

LED vs CF, whereas the fridge here already chalk up a good amount of power consumption."

My new panasonic fridge arrived yesterday :D it's the newest NR-BU343, 282-litre model with bottom freezer, not the inverter type but has annual power consumption of 460kWh, one of the lowest in the markets of similar capacity.... i learnt this from the salesman when I wanted to get the inverter series, he told me not to be blinded by the inverter hype and the more-ticks-frenzy, rather look at the NEA database of aircon/fridge sticker label that shows the lab-tested power consumption....which makes sense

immediately loaded up with lots of beer and soft drinks...haaaa

bingo.... the fridge is running 24/7/365, compared to lights running 8/7/365...

One consolation I have is afterall it's still 4 ticks (& 2nd fridge in running in terms of energy efficient)

and fridge doesn't really consume the same power all the time, assuming that you don't keep opening

when choosing fridge take note of the clearance space on sideways and rear, as most fridges nowadays have their heat-exchangers installed at the sides, so a minimum of 5cm on all sides are to be observed, as the compressor will work less hard to dissipate the heat, translating to longer service life.

at the same time, my 37" samsung is finally wall-mounted on the rotating console.... very clean and sleek-looking, all the 4 x HDMI/VGA/component/AC cables all tucked behind....

Samsung give me a VuePoint bracket (FOC) with effortless tilting mechanism to reduce stray light (glare from window reflections) but the overall thickness of the bracket is twice as thick as the tv itself....

but wth, free one, beggars can't be choosers....

the model i bot according to the salesman, is the latest one, so i not sure if they sell there, but no harm go there check out....ya, i tink that NEA website oso shows aircons single/multi/inverter/non-inverter models.... so make a detail study of the specs before committing...

yes, inverter will cost more than their non-inverter fixed-speed counterparts.

If the metal strips separating different floor tiles are rusty, how to get rid and prevent further rust from forming? Unfortunately, this is in the toilet floor, so that area does get wet each time we wash.

I'm also in the midst of selecting the fridge, washing machine and aircon.

To say the truth, I'm also quite obsessed with the ticks and what not, it seems that Hitachi has a series of fridge with 4 ticks and for one of the 332l or 358l model, the annual cost for electricity consumption is lesser than $120+ when I was browsing around Harvey Norman.

wa, this one jialat. need to ask ur contractor how come it's not stainess steel and request him to make good... apply rust inhibitors will not solve the problem since it gets wet and washed away eventually.

yesterday got meself a Cambridge Audio Sonata AR30 and Mission M30i bookshelf speakers

A product shot of the iPod dock + amp combo, FM/AM + 3 auxiliary inputs + iPod/iPhone, .... very high-quality internal construction with donut toroidal transformer power supply... a tiny package that packs a beefy 40Wrms per channel @ 8ohms ....more than enuf for me...

and the accompanying bookshelf speakers... looks small in size but big in sound... initially was skeptical and worried the bass cannot make it and need a subwoofer to go with it (additional $$$ and footprint)... but was pleasantly surprised with its performance....

The combo in action... working perfectly with my iPhone 3G with simultaneous internet tethering....
