Re-runing of Aircon trunking:

Unfortunately, during the first installation, I forgot to consider the trunking routing, as a result it is very ugly. I need to re-run the aircon trunking, still talking to and getting some qoutations from the aircon contractors before making a decision.

Old layout:

New layout (wanted):

Lessons learnt: Painful and costly

We have engaged Twin Aircon Engineering Services to do the re-run of aircon trunking.

Laminate Flooring for Living room and bedrooms:

Installation :

img2808l.jpg

The Pergo Aged Oak (dark brown)is for the living room, it is AC 5.

The Robina Euroline is for the bedrooms, it is AC 4.

Joint between the main door tiles and Living room Pergo aged oak:

Joint between the kitchen tiles and Living room Pergo aged oak:

Joint between the Bedroom Robina euroline and Living room Pergo aged oak:

Overall the workmanship by floor option is very good and the workers are very detail in installing the laminate floors.

Lessons learnt:

There is some difference in the feeling of the floorings of Pergo and Robina. Robina gave a harder and solid feel. While the Pergo have softer feeling of wood and have some cushion when you walk on it; maybe it is made of Pine wood.

Hi yeo, looks like your renovation is coming along nicely.

I'm using floor option as well so am glad to hear that you are saying good things about floor option :)

Looking forward to my laminates as well hee...

Had problems choosing between Robina and Pergo as well previously when I was in their office.

May I know if you're using laminate or pvc trimmings for the joint?

Cheers

I am using both the PVC with laminate and Alu for the the joints. It depends on the locations.

The Alu joints are in the living room. However, the tile must be above the floor by about 8mm to 10mm depending on the types of laminate floor used. You may tell the tiler that the height between the joint to be 9mm or else the joint is very ugly if there is difference in height.

I also donot know that until I collect my fan from the Everjoint. They said they only have white ones at this moment , the silver one does not have stock. I also thought the fan has silver color. I say I can take the white one.

Hello Yeo99,

May I know what you have had to do to make sure that your new kitchen floor tiles (overlay) and your living room laminate can join on a flat level ?

Was your original kitchen floor and original living room floor already levelled ?

Hello Yeo99,

I think the tiler used chemical cements for the kitchen, the tiles thickness selected should not be too thick. Another thing is to use a slightly thick laminate flooring (some is 8mm, some is 9mm or 10mm). Lastly, if there is a slighhtly difference, the laminate floor installer will try to add some support (some form of plastic sheet) below the laminate floor to slope up the joint area to have a flat joint. Talk to both the tilers and the laminate floor guys, they can advise you.
