Kitchen Wall Tiles Crack

Recommended Posts

8 months into staying in my flat, the place where it was plastered is actually cracking up.

What happened was, for the room right next to the kitchen, the previous owner changed the direction of the original door and had it open into the kitchen. We changed back the door to facing the living room and that opening to the kitchen was sealed with bricks and then plastered. Half a year later, the wall that is facing the room, started having huge horizontal crack across the wall and a week ago, the same wall but on the other side facing the kitchen, 2 of the wall tiles at the exact spot also have cracks. What should I do now?? I can't go back to the same contractor anymore because during reno, it was already so hard to find him, now so long after reno, he sure don't want to be responsible for it :(:(

think is normal that those sealed-up walls after a while will shrink a bit and those wall tiles that covers the interface between the old and new walls will crack.

IMHO he should be held responsible, since most contractors give some warranty on the reno works done....

so long u have some spare tiles, can always ask any contractor, pay them some $ to redo the cracked tiles.
