B2B 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2010 I am currently using Mcquay Aircon. I only turn it on 10 hours a day - only one room. My monthly average power bill is around $200+. I wonder if it is due to this aircon... anybody uses this brand?
forgotten 1 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 (edited) Why did u choose this aircon brand? I always want to post this question to my previous owner heehee. I never heard of this aircon brand until I moved into my current house with this aircon. None of the people around me got this brand. My PUB bills are $180-$200 for these 3 months. My gas is $0, as I don't cook. 1st bedroom - On aircon for 14 hours daily 2nd bedroom - On aircon for 14 to 24 hours daily My tenants on their aircons in day time too although they agreed to my initial condition of only using the aircons at night before they moved in lol. My parents' most recent PUB bill is $230. 2 bedrooms on aircons for 6 hours daily. My friend's most recent PUB bill is $280. Only 1 bedroom on aircon for 9 hours daily. Only 2 adults + 1 toddler in house. Besides aircon, I think you need to analyse your other applicances' electric usages. SP Services has increased the tariff rate for electricity again this quarter. The Air con came with the Condo. Maybe developer cut cost so use this brand. My house only got my wife, baby and I. Aircon only 1 room... but bills S$200+. Wife is working, so nobody at home during the day.

For the July month we on 2 aircons for 14-24 hours daily, household's electricity consumption was 510 kWh. Thus can deduce that my Macquay 2 aircons used 330kWh. What was your electricity consumption on your PUB bill? Maybe you can try to UP the temperature of your aircon setting? It will help to reduce the electricity consumption. Will go check my power consumption. My temp settings around 25 degrees C. Wonder if I change to other brands, will my consumption improve?
