So the ID would have to come up with the design and measurements of the items(eg: the sink) before you can go ahead with the purchase of the items ?

in my case i need to inform ID wat i prefer, n he'll need to advise me on maximum size allowable and design tat's suitable. same thing for fridge, washing m/c, TV, hob, hood, sofa, dining table, coffee table, bed etc. If there's mis comms, worse case will b ur stuffs cannot fit into his measurements. muz b careful ah..

actually u can also ask ur id go shopping with you.. he can also advise u on the design.. But 1 thing to take note is the shop see ID around might increase price.. i say might.. so best is go do some homework b4 asking them go shopping with u..

that means the role of the id is just to design for us since we will be getting most of the stuffs ourselves. in that case, we don't really need a ID, we could just get a contractor then.

I also got a contractor instead of ID.

But I think some contractors are truly just contractors, you tell them what you want, they build for you. They do not dispense any other advice on practicality, functionality, colour scheme, etc. Unless the thing you want, or the way you want is not possible to be done.

On the other hand, nowadays, there are many contractors who also double up as ID, who will give drawings and design. Many contractors now also offer packages, which includes items like hob, hood, aircon, grilles, sink etc. I met one contractor who would even go as far as buying the furniture for the owners.

So end of the day, it really depends on what you want and how "involved" you want to be in the reno process. For me, though it's time consuming and taxing, we thoroughly enjoyed the receeing for appliances, researching on the design we like, not just aesthetically, but also practical and liveable.

yeah, agree with froggy. though it was tough running around recceeing on the items and buying them then arranging for delivery but the end results is very satisfactory, knowing that it's ur effort to piece the items to make ur home looks perfect and livable.

On top of that, cos of recceeing, I found RT. enough said!

Does the purchase of these items include the tiles for the whole house too?

I was just picturing the scenario in my mind: so after the purchase of the items are made, are the items delivered to your house that is being renovated and stored in the house so when the contractors wants to fix the kitchen hood today, he would just take the hood and fix it on?
