Finally Settled In....

Recommended Posts

AFTER - Hallway to bedrooms.

I installed track light to highlight my little girl's paintings that I put up along the hwallway leading to bedrooms.

Bought the black picture frames from as-is corner in IKEA at $3 for 1 and $7 for the other 3.

Original was $19.

To stretch the canvas cost me $18 each so searched for this cheaper solution.

AFTER - Bedroom2

Only did up the wardrobe.

Consists of 6 feet sliding wardrobe as this room is the smallest in the house.

BedRm2-Wardrobe.jpg

BedRm2-Bed.jpg

The storage bed was the only piece of furniture we bought; from SEAHORSE. Huge storage space...great for luggages :P

The headboard of this bed cannot be used in this room as it would cause the door not to close.

So I had to give the headboard to my other girl and asked my carpenter to make this simple headboard (FOC) :D which I painted white.

Looking for big piece(s) of sponge so that I can DIY a proper headboard for my girl (will use cloth and thumb tacks to secure).

Anyone knows where to buy big piece(s) of sponge?

The curtains are beautiful...though the photo does not do justice to it.

AFTER - Master Bedroom

I love the colour of my master room.

It is NIPPON Tender and Harmonious Purple.

My storage bed had been with me for 8 years but the headboard looked tired.

So I asked my carpenter to do up a simple headboard (FOC...learnt this idea from a forummer) :D and I painted it black. He also installed for me.

MasterRm-Bed.jpg

The side table is actually covered over by a black cloth as I had SCANTEAK nested tables (3 of them) and did not know what to do with them.

Asked MIL to machine sew according to size.

The table which i used to hold my printer was one of the nested table.

The 3rd table is used as bedside table next to the SEAHORSE storage bed.

MasterRm-TV.jpg

The black shelf was also FOC from my carpenter. :D

Black bracket is $1 from IKEA.

AFTER - Master Toilet

Similar to kitchen black-n-white toilet.

Also using the white solid top from kitchen to build the mirror tray and shower tray.

Stainless steel piping beneath toilet sink.

Stainless steel floor traps.

Aircon piping:

Clever way to meet both criteria - HDB does not allow burying of aircon piping & asethetically look ok.

Build a 'long kang' to drain the water into the wet shower area. This is build behind bifold door.

Nicely done, considering w/o ID.

Where did you get the stickers in your childrens room?

The solid top for toiletries idea is good. Don't mind if I steal it. :yamseng:

Hi Strawberry8,

I like all your 'recycle' and 're-use' recreations - rather creative :) I especially like your gals' drawings as my gal loves to draw too. In my new flat, I am thinking of giving her a long stretch of drawing board for her to expand her creativity and..... energy :P (That was what my mom did to me when I was young then - I was allowed to scribble on the walls of the rented room and I remember standing on the stool to draw when the lower space was taken up.). Also will hang up her pictures too - to save cost of buying posters mah kekeke...

Oh did you hack and put up tiles in your kitchen and both toilets? I find your cost rather low for a 5-room flat. Your carpenter seemed to be very generous too to offer so many FOCs. Would you be willing to PM me their contacts?

Kum siah, kum siah.

Thanks for introducing the Aluminium Composite Panel to me.

One tip : I live on #09 so you need to let them know that when you order.

I emailed them my order and mistakenly put address as #01 and as a result, only 1 man delivered and the 8 feet panel cannot go into lift.

So the man, my helper and I had to carry it all the way to #09.

The man says you either ask them to cut into smaller pieces to fit into the lift else you got to provide your own manpower to help to carry it up

AFTER - Service Balcony

Installed ss water pipes with IKEA curtain brackets as towel rods for my 2 kids and helper as there is no space in toilet to hang the towels due to layout :bangwall:

SerBal-TowelSSRods-1.jpg

Also asked my contractor to buy ss pipes for my clothes rod.

SerBal-ClothesSSRods-1.jpg

Did not box up pipes in service balcony.

Hi strawberry8,

may i check what did you stuff into the end of the SS pipe?

And then you use SS pipe as your bamboo sticks, are they heavier compared to using bamboo sticks?

It looks nice to use SS water pipe to dry your clothes!

It's a black rubber stud which you can easily buy from any hardware store.

The shape is kinda conical.

I only stuff the stud for the 2 towel rods as the rods are at eye level.

The decal - my MIL's relative got from Malaysia...dont know where.

I 'stole' the idea of re-using cutout solid top from fftw :P

But you need to consider if the colour of solid top matches that of the toilet wall tiles.

Mine is white for both so ok.

Kum siah, kum siah.

I hack toilet wall tiles.

I did not hack kitchen & service bal wall tiles - cement screed, plaster and paint.
