waste of time

they cant even run the job sites for nuts

hahaha.... worse still if you get a self proclaimed id w/o any qualifications who cant run the site for u & trouble shoot problems. most big firms run into these problems as they employ non id trained ppl as sales designers who only try to sell for them. they have a high turn over rate with their staff & i heard of ppl whose homes reno are done halfway & their 'designer' left the co leavin it hanging it the air. how frightening....

a lot of id(s) on the market are with no or little design qualifications. some signed up for some private part time classes that last probably for a few months. there's only a few schools in Singapore that is truly recognised in the design scene offering diploma and degree programmes.

i guess with qualification or no qualification the final outcome is if the person is able to deliver or help their customer in their needs.... jus like being rich and famous doesnt need you to have qualification.... i guess.... hahahaa... jus my 2cents worth... dun flame me....

yeap. very very difficult to find ID who is really qualified, at least a diploma from a recognised college & yet at the same time able to make sure our home renovation are properly managed. tats how it is baaaa. 10 out of 10 designers none of them graduated from either la salle, temasek poly, or NAFA let alone ntu.

if we are payin for a design fee at least our ID is justified for accepting that fee.

wats the point if we go to a neighbourhood pharmacy to pay a specialist doctor's consulation fee....

u dont learn how to run job sites, how to solve problems, how to plan schedule, materials, how reno works in sch

u want proper id go look for those in house designers that stay in office and dont go out to site

i've been looking for an ID who is OK with giving me design only. Still thinking about the rest because need to consider the budget. might have to do everything myself.

anyway, after talking to quite a few of them, i realise that there is a certain pattern to it. the 'real' ones with the design ideas tend to dress and look slightly different. ha! the others, who are the 'sales' usually look more.. sales. dunno if u guys notice it. and you can actually tell after talking to them for awhile.

that's my 2cents worth too! ;)

To find a good interior designer is not easy, you need to see if the he or she is looking at giving your home or workplace the best design you like. Or simply looking at how much money they could generate from you. I have been advising my friends to always check with CASE, to see if there is any blacklisted contractors or ID firms that still have outstanding issues with their unsatisfied clients. If have, it is best avoid to such companies.

Other than that, choosing a good ID, is really up to guy feeling and whether you like the designer or not.
