norman 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2010 have anyone been using A11YS - does it spoilt easily? i have no confidence in remote control fan after having bad experience with Elmark (3 ceiling fan broke down just after 1 year warranty). pls advise if A11YS more durable? in term of remote control / sensor? i heard my friend been using KDK remote control ceiling fan for 4 year+ and none of the component spoilt until now (but it's not A11YS model). desperate looking for durable ceiling fan for hdb bedroom.. buibui 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2011 (edited) I'm thinking of installing KDK ceiling fan in my house but recently, I've went to someone's house who have installed KDK A11YS. Speed 3 can only feel the wind under the fan. If you a bit away from the fan (about 0.5m or lesser), you cannot feel the fan anymore. The house doesn't have any false ceiling or L-box. Probably it's better to get other KDK models. Edited January 10, 2011 by buibui

jiajun82 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2011 I have 2 kdk stand fans and 1 table fan in my parent's house, have dropped them, scratched them pushed them around far too often and they are still going strong -_-" I think they outlasted the renovations. Personally i feel for ceiling fans speed 1 should typically be only for sleeping or really cold weather when you need a bit of air circulation. If all 3 speeds are so windy then no variation le mah. =) Cheers, Jia Jun

enhanzed 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2012 i think the ceiling fan has to be a certain distance away from the ceiling in order to be effective right ? thats according to KDK website How to choose a ceiling fan?Choosing a ceiling fan locationFan should be placed in the centre of the room, unless the space is too large and require 2 or more fans for better airflow. For safety reasons, we recommend to avoid installing a fan directly above a bed. Depending the room sizeA large bedroom or living room would require a large ceiling fan (blade length: 56 to 60 inches) to move the air effectively. For smaller room, fan blade length between 44-56 inches will be adequate. However, the size of the fan also depends on individual needs. Mounting measurementsA ceiling fan needs to be 2.3 – 2.8metres, from the floor, with the blade tips at least 0.6metres away from walls or tall furniture. If you're using more than 1 ceiling fan, do ensure to install them 3 metres away from each other (distance between the downrod).Ceiling heightRoom with high ceiling requires a more powerful fan to promote air circulation. Ideally, a ceiling fan should be at least 2.3 – 2.8meters from the floor. In situations when the ceiling is extremely high, extension fan down rod can be used. A general formula for calculating down rod length is to take the ceiling height less 2.3 – 2.8metres. Example, if your ceiling height is 3.65metres, after deducting 2.3metres (from the floor), the down rod required is 1metre long.
