Recommended Posts

oh lucky i see your this post. Was going to order 4 pieces for my house too.

But seems like cannot find any other brand that is so small leh.. any recommendation? i want simple ones... with lights...

I'm 200% sure and confidence this Elmark 30" with lights fan perform better than KDK 44" scrap. FYI, fanco and cresta, they got 36" ~ 38" model also.

Ok guys, just a little more detail. They send their engineer down to measure rpm of fan. Interestingly service manager dunno what equipment they use to measure but I guess it is tachometer. I am not around to see. After that, the speed is measured to be 144rpm which is out of specs. My wife told me they blame it on our cutout in false ceiling which I call service manager to challenge her claims.

Interestingly, she told me specs on website might be wrong due to some design changes and dare not call me back. Haha! Nevertheless, I will hunt her down. If wrong, better pay compensation or refund and apologize to me in person. Load of crap!

or every good review, there is a bad review here. i bought kdk baby fan after experiencing it at Tunes hotel and reading good reviews. Sunny had a bad experience, but if u read ahead in another thread of kdk vs elmark thread, there are some good reviews on kdk as well.

for me, kdk is good for now. lasting or not...hmmm 5 years later then i will know. :P

getting fans with lights is a total distraction, be it in the living room when u are watching tv or dining room where u eat...

please think many times whether u can tahan or not.

Usually fans with shorter blade have higher pitch (the angle the blade is bent),so more amount of air is forced to move as compared to one with less pitch (KDK's). Fans for residential usage, as rule of thumb, rpm not exceeding 500 (14 inch blade). Higher pitch will load more on fan=consume more current. Too high speed >500rpm will create "noise" - air vibration. More blade meant for low speed, less blade meant for higher speed.

- There is no "life time" warranty for motor. Verticle-mounted (ceiling fan) is easier to breakdown than horizontal-mount (standing fan) due to greater gravitional force acted on the armature shaft. The is an AC capacitor to create current/voltage phase shift in the beginning for fan to rotate, always "leak" in capacitance over time.

Industrial fan has an average lifespan of 370,000hr, if to run contineous 24hr/day. Mosting due to mechanical wear & tear instead of electrical or electronic reasons.

All fans, serve one basic function - air circulation. Other features are just "sweetners". I like plain, less feature, lasting, RC. If a fan can't make sufficient air circulation - throw away & get a bigger one.

Bro, if u wan to "slap" them hard, I welcomed them to measure all my 5 fans and see what excuse they give.

Well, maybe bcos I set too high expectation on KDK thus causes my great disappointment.

Less blade meant for high speed but this KDK only 3 blades and yet 144rpm only, my elmark 30" with 6 blade, speed 2 = KDK speed 3. Haiz...

Sir

For those people who say it is great etc and whatever review, I just take it as positives etc and after looking through the specs, I think it is a good small fan. To be frank, those so call comparison without data, I take it like a pinch of salt. It is like saying it is windy, it is fast but what is the rotation speed and air flow?

For me, I feel speed 1 sucks so I request their technician to take a look. After measurement, it is under specs thus of course I am unhappy. I told them nicely, asking them whether the motor has issue or is it defective. Tell me all the blah blah blah reason as if it is not their fault. I can accept it if they admit it is their problem but they simply push and push..

Personally, I feel lasting is of no use if you cant serve the function. What is the use if I were to give you a car which can only travel at 20km/hr max speed but it can last for 50 years! Will you be happy?

Their service manager call me back today and told me next week, their Japan engineers might be visiting me..haha! It is a joke, visit me for what ****? Just fix it.

Sunnytan31

If the specs is 166rpm and if yours is not, then get them to replace and compensate you if needed. It is your rights.

Fan is to cool the area isn't it? if i sit there and the fan is able to cool the area, then its a good fan already..

rotation speed, sorry naked eye how to see? air flow...u can see the air flowing? i cannot see la, if can see im in deep trouble as now is 7th month... close all windows to feel the wind, can feel a difference so i highlighted it. U can take it with a ton of salt for the matter...thats the way reviews work, based on feedback from end users, not feedback from engineers who use jargons and statistics.

Lasting is of cos important for all electronics. The cost of replacing a fan is not low and u have to go through the same headache again. U might get a lemon after tons of research if you are suay.

U mean japan send engineer here to inspect a 100+ sgd fan? haha! thats really a joke! looking to see if it remains a joke...

Sunny will have to go back to JB as he bought it from there... which i doubt he will....

Htng is wring abt specs. All products are "supposed" to come with technical specs and features written somewhere for consumers' understanding and choice making. Product not conforming to spec = failure. Best to buy products that come with specs, however, not necessarily products with specs are good.

Paste reflect sticker on one blade, on the fan, & use tachometer to pt at the reflective sticker, meter will tell rpm. Japan engineer is not only for htng, I believed, there are some more "victims" out there. I was searching for KDK fan & kena routed to this RT forum last year. Ended up I bought 2 x V56VK from amk, cash, self delivery, shocked to see no "bracket". Capital Distribution should have but lazy to go all the way there.

Other brands of fan "never" got my attraction, only KDK. I used to have 4 wall-mounted fans, some(~ 3) standing & table fans (visitors came & saw, said I "wind" siao) I don't like to move fans here & there, plug in & plug out. Now my 5 rm got 2 x V56VK, 2 table fans & 1 standing fan, sys-3 aircon. I "wash" them every 3~4 months.

Ceiling fans are abt 150-200watt. Pull cord, lighting below blade is a big "no, no". I prefer "hot" to death instead of seeing the cord hanging in the air or/and with those "lily" flowers below the fans. Remember fans are to circulate air only not cooling.

Hi Bro

Haha! Thanks for understanding what I say. Yes, I feel all products must measure according to specs. Seriously speaking, I dont really care if the actual speed is above or below the specs as long as it is "windy". Since it is not, of course as a consumer, I get service center to check. Yes, talking about motor rpm, it is measured using a tachometer and you are absolutely right. For measuring air flow, air flow meter can be used but it is extremely tedious to setup the experiment.

Talking about some theory, "The amount of air flow depends on many factors for example the diameter and shape of the blades, rotation speed of blade (rpm), horsepower (hp) of the motor, and the fan design. These combined factors establish the air moving capacity of a fan. Usually we use rpm as a benchmark because it is difficult to establish blade design, fan design etc unless you run the design using simulation. Some fan design have big blades but may not necessary has more wind. In addition, a fan with faster rpm doesnt = more wind too. There are many factors involve.

As for the Japan engineers, you are totally right. They are here for some meeting with the SG team and the service manager says probably it is good for them to look at this since they are here. Personally, I worked with Japanese engineers before and they have pride in everything they do. You tell them the problem, if it is their fault, they will fix it.

Yes, I got all my 5 KDK A11YS Baby Fan from Malaysia and I am 101% not going back to claim any compensation. Blame myself for putting too high expectation on KDK and got carried away by its look and feature.

5 out of 5 does not perform means product not up to spec, IF defects, then KDK have serious QC problem.

Ceiling fan is meant to make air circulate blar blar blar theory makes no link to KDK performance, which fan doesn't serve the purpose to circulate air?

KDK wall mount fan, guarrantee powerful, strong, windy and lasting, however this doesn't imply on KDK Baby Fan, A11YS.

If u feel Baby Fan is good, then good for u. But I feel it is fxxk tup, whoever don't believe, pls buy it, own it and try it.

Nevertheless, future owner, think twice for A11YS....
