harrymonster 1 Report post Posted July 7, 2010 Good Afternoon Everyone, I have a problem, hope someone can give me any pointers please. Have 5 chandeliers at home, all with dimming switches (round - rotary type). Previously they were fixed with normal incandescent 60watts bulbs (4 - 6 bulbs per chandelier) but realised that while its a nice effect, however they make the house / room really warm. Bought 6 Ikea energy saving light bulbs to try out without reading much about it, only to realise that normal energy saving light bulbs dont really work well with dimmers. The dimming switch actually gives off a slight buzzing sound if it's turned to half the current output, slightly scary. There's also a flickering effect when the dimming switch is turned to full output. So case closed, its not gonna work out. Checked out Megaman's energy saving light bulbs which are also dimming suitable, but they cost ard SGD 29-32 each! Was surprised, never knew a bulb could be so expensive. Dont think thats an option for me at the moment, I have a total of 28 bulbs to change.... So now wondering which option would be more suitable: -Anyone has any suggestions for more affordable ES light bulbs with dimming capabilities? -Should I remove the dimming switch for some of the chandeliers so I can continue to use normal ES light bulbs? Any idea how much will the removal cost? -Any other suggestion please? Thanks everyone!
