Ceiling Fan Regulations For Hdb

For those who install ceiling fan, do we have to follow the HDB guide? Seems like most dont meet the weight specs.

Installation of ceiling fan Weight of fan should not exceed 6 kg

Clear height from finished floor level to fan blades should be at least 2.4 m

Hardened steel expanding bolt should not exceed 8 mm in diameter and penetration depth of steel plug should not exceed 40 mm

hdb officer will take down the fan to weigh?

most hdb ceiling are much higher than that. even my super duper old flat is 2.5m after putting overlaying with laminates. but in anycase, we are all less than 2m usually. unless Yao Ming surfs renotalk.

conclusion: do what you like, this is like the last thing hdb ever bothers with. unless someone dies from a falling ceiling fan in a hdb.

I guess my hdb is even older than yours. My 40 yr old hdb ceiling height is 2.4m . Cant decide whether to install ceiling fan.
