Lg 50pk550 Plasma Good?

Recommended Posts

Bro vicenzo70,

I'm oso looking for TV. Care to comment on the PQ of LG's latest offering, Infinia LE5500 - Full HD LED TV?

Its 1980 x 1080, 100Hz with contrast ration of 5,000,000:1

Can i say its as good as Plasma (PQ wise)? I'm very noob on these and can only relate the 3 mentioned figures when doing my comparision :P

Thank you to those who stood by me.

I feel "Offended" when a non-electronics compliant person comes to this forum & dish out opening remarks like "PLASMA NO GOOD"

thus my reaction. Those who benefitted from my advice, carry on enjoying your HTS.

Frezhmen, how's your 608?

Cheers

Go with your eyes. The TV specs is just an indicator but its meaningless if you cannot decipher them.

Im quite sceptical of LED above 50" coz of their expensive pricing & the technology is probably not there yet.

How much is this set selling for?

Cheers

Agree. The pace of TV technology is advancing very fast. No point to spend to the latest tv for now.

I consider the pace between each tech:

1. CRT

2. Plasma TV

3. LCD TV

4. LED TV

5. TV +3D

From stage 3 onwards, the pace is less than 6 months. Meaning your tv would be "obsolete" in 6 mths even if you buy the latest one.

For now, I'd rather go to the "cheapest" with full-hd. In 3 years time, upgrade to better one. Maybe in 3 yrs, there would be

- full-hd

- 3D without glasses

- pay-per-tv/internet built-in with wifi

- link with your handphone

- detect your motion, so can change channel with your hand movement (no remote control)

- voice control for tv

- read e-books

- filter the air so you breathe clean air while watching tv

- clean your house

- wash dishes

- what else? :D

at least detect motion and voice control are probable. As proven my microsoft kinect box.

wah.. mister.... you really lor..... i said plasma no good cos of the power consumption. frankly, i know nuts about plasma having good picture quality... but is it wrong with my statement?

you can just advise me on the good picture quality and tell me that power consumption will not be an issue, instead of posting that comment!

i have never ever question your guru status at all! those who seek your advise said you are the guru, and i never dispute that, but does that give you the right to be rude? why i said you write for digital.asiaone.com, cos your guide to buying tv all copied from there. so unless you are a writer for that, please have the decency of naming your source.

i already stop commenting to let this matter rest, i didn't even thank vex for helping me say a few words cos i don't want things to get worse. but you just won't stop do you? and still want to say "hope youre not a lady coz lady & electronics dont mix very well". i never even return any rude comments to you. go read my posts properly and stop saying anything other than giving advice to people who really want to get a tv.

tsk! tsk! tsk! My TV buying guide is not from digital asiaone but in fact from a forummer who posted it here. Why dont u question his decency for not

naming his source? Jeeezzzzz. Do browse thru the audio/visual posts before making accusations.

Lady, u said u know nuts about TV so why the opening remarks "PLASMA NO GOOD"? If unless you owned one & made that remark, then i cannot fault you.

I feel "offended" by your this statement likewise you feel offended by my "bollocks" remark. We're all square now.

And if you need any advise on audio or video, kindly let me know so I can provide proper guidance. Im no guru but Im still learning as well.

btw, Im only making known of this little tiff with my friend, Frezhman. Like that you also want to comment ah?

Cheers & have a nice day!

Its not a question of personal attack but a question of knowledge or the LACK of it.

If any Mary, Sue & Fiona runs around this forum blabbering half truths on electronics items which

they clearly have no understanding, I have to correct this misconception.

This thread is about LG50PK550 & i have contributed fairly enough info needed to those who seek.

What have you contributed besides picking a fight with me?

i don't want to win. i just want you to stop saying anything about my comment and i will stop bothering you. how to contribute? they have you to ask for advice already, they don't need me.

frankly, i did my fair share of read up when i looking for HTS. told my hubby what i read here and xtreme but he went ahead with harmon kardon. good or not, i don't know. system not up, i can't find a lot of info on harmon kardon, will only know when i have it set up and listen to it.

Harmon Kardon Im guessing your hubby mustve bought it from AVOne, Courts or best Denki. Correct me if Im wrong.

For this brand, its associated more for karaoke & not for movie watching or music listening. And its not even cheap at all.

Maybe you may ask your hubby to reconsider this model. Lack of info means no reviews or people arent bothered.

A good place to visit will be Adelphi. There's loads of AV shops that caters to specific budgets.

What receiver was being packaged with this speakers?

Cheers

I really cant tell the diff. Although plasma should have e best PQ, I find LCD / LED equally good / better in most instances  but maybe tats just me and my super untrained eyes ....Mega quoted me $3180 for this 55' model, which I feel its very value for $$ (price, size & specs wise) as compared to Pioneer / Panny plasma, or any other makes of LED TV for that matters

If its pleasing to your eyes & wallet, go for it.

You shld test out the LED capability when youre watching dark scenes or in a darken environment or in HD format.

I always put down the blinds in my Entertaiment Room to emulate a cinematic effect. Highly doubt an LED will create

this effect but by all means, if LED is good , then go for it.
