Remember u asked me during my hse warming whether my vhive wardrobe is good as u have read that there r mould growing on it and I told u no... Mine has NOW!!!! I have to wipe it every week!!!! Only started recently... Wipe then come back...wipe then come back again.... But the strange thing is my study table which is also from vihive okie leh... Sigh....

just wipe no use one... need to use bleach or some other methods... do a search on mould/mold in RT and read all the threads... there is a wealth of knowledge in there.

and i think the location of your wardrobe could also be a factor... is it near some moisture source? like my home... ikea study table got mold, but the exact same table at my sis' place is okie.... my home is more humid than my sis place.

sigh. wiping mold has become my bi-weekly/monthly rituals *cry*

About the mold, I thought Borax would help? No? Of every week wipe it, doesnt solve the problem leh. I think same model of wardrobe or table still cannot say will have mold or not it's depending on the chipboard use for that batch. Maybe drier chipboard are better? And we can't see whether it's sufficiently dried inside?

If use wet cloth to wipe also doesn't help cos it's damp. Headache when have molds.

like what bro Topspin said, Borax doesn't totally eliminate the problem, it can just help to length the mold cleaning interval i've tested for a month so far. mold came out on outside of the shoe cabinet after ~ 3 weeks instead of a few days. but for wardrobe, improvement is not so significant (from ~ 2 weeks to now ~3 weeks).

get a dehumidifier?

i have thought of dehumidifer before but there are some practical issues:

1) dehumidifier emits heat, will make the whole place very warm

2) for dehumidifier to be useful, it should be operated in an enclosed area: i.e. all doors and windows to be closed. i think i will die from heat or suffocation like that

3) need to find some way to channel the water collected as i'm not at home most of the day, cannot be there to throw away buckets of water

if i have a WIW, i may be able to leave a small dehumidifier in it and close the doors. but i don't. so.... well....

now i bought those mini dehumidifiers and put in each compartment of my wardrobe trying to move away from thirsty hippo cos it is just the same as collecting and leaving a bucket of water within the wardrobe~

btw, i am finally going to furnish my common room soon. Mummy is coming this month, and my bro has confirmed that he will bring his whole family here in August, so i must have a bed for them to sleep~ going to check out Ikea sales over the weekend~

not run on battery, it has some moisture absorbant inside (cobalt chloride maybe?? not sure...) and there is usually an colour indicator at the casing. when the indicator changes colour, it means the dehumidifier is full liao, then plug the dehumidifier to a power source to regenerate it and reuse again.

Finally!!! Happy that you will finally furnish your room. But your wedding pic must put up soon lah.

yay~ i'm thinking of a lighter colour theme for the common room.... maybe will go for a birch theme? that's what ikea is best at rite hahaha

Saw that the owner allow you to renovate the house before 2nd appointment. May I know how does your ID apply the permit for renovation? Is it still under the owner's name? Would appreciate if you could advise more details cos we are having a tight schedule for renovation, and would like to know whether can "chiam xiong" with the owner too Thanks a lot.
