marshmallow 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2011 Hallo, marshmallow I was with csingeu yesterday and he mentioned you stayed nearby his area, in JW. I recalled your blog is one of them which I read while searching for reno inspiration before I started my own blog. So, I was exclaiming "oh...marshmallow? I have read her blog" while talking to him. Now, while reading thru, it seems like you young ladies (froggy, maydream, ...) are really great cooks! hi! nice to see you here hahaha yea we are quite near, i'm on the fringe of JE - just one "drain" (read: canal) away from csingeu's side of JW~ i'm not a great cook la~ just aspire and learning to be one hahaha
marshmallow 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2011 ya i know... but when go shopping, sometimes will buy more and sometimes buy too little. you must really know how to cook very well for you to cook it different style for the same things!! yea that happens to me too... but i'm very auntie one, becos NTUC Plus can only accumulate points if the purchases is more than $20, so every time i will buy just nice to around $20 hahahaha that sort of control the amount i buy~
marshmallow 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 went to ikea over the weekend and did quite a bit of shopping... The Framsta Story Bought the black glass Framsta tv panels that hubby has always wanted but didn't get during reno time cos couldn't figure out where to mount them. we will have 3 panels right in the middle of our existing tv console. i found it really odd to suddenly have 3 panels sprung out from the tv console like this but hubby insisted that he wants it this way. so... refresh: this is how my living room looks like now. the width of the framsta panel is exactly the same as the middle 2 drawers. it's gonna be 3 panels placed vertically. still trying to imagine the new look... find the 3 lone panels very odd in the middle of this big wall. what do you all think? i'm really sketical that it will look nice~ anyway, i will enjoy the sight of this big wall in nice colour (i really love this paint colour!) until this sat... when the delivery comes.......... marshmallow 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 continue on our ikea shopping...: That Bedside Table... I wanted a bedside table/cabinet with drawers from the beginning becos i think i need somewhere to put my handphones/chargers/alarm clock..... but hubby rejected the request flatly. reason: (a) MBR is already small enough and (b) one more piece of furniture, one more thing to clean. it was lucky that our bedframe has some "platform" design so we can still line up the alarm clock and stuff on the bedframe itself, so we endure without a bedside table for this past 7 months. finally (yes, finally!) hubby himself couldn't stand the sight of messy handphone charge cables anymore, and now he is more convinced than me that he NEEDS a bedside table! yay!! so we got this from ikea. matches our colour scheme, functional, and, well, cheap. it will be at the inside of the room, behind where the standing lamp is now. though i'd think that it will be nicer to have 2 bedside cabinets, one on each side - so it will look more balance. but hubby doesn't buy the idea..... anyway, having 1 is good enough for me finally, one less item to my pending list... time to edit my signature
marshmallow 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 (edited) The Kitchen Table Story Just before CNY, i was talking about getting a kitchen table, so i can relocate my rice cooker and water heater there, and hence free up some of my countertop space. MORE on kitchen - The Kitchen Table Story My kitchen is very long and have this weird little space next to the kitchen entrance, which i always wanted to put an additional cabinets/worktop but the plan was put off during reno stage (the space i'm talking about is on left of the photo) the width of this space is less than 40cm, makes it really difficult to get some ready-made cabinets or sort. after living in our home for a while, i really feel that my countertop is overcrowded at the dry area, with my oven/rice cooker/water heater etc all squeezing in the ~1.2m of space i have. if i want to get another induction cooker in future, there will be even less space. so, i'm looking for something to fit into that narrow space next to the entrance. i need: 1) A solid top where my water heater, water jugs and rice cooker will sit. 2) some shelves/racks below for me to dry and store my woks and pots. After a lot of shopping, we have found this in Ikea - strangely, this product is not featured in Ikea SG's website and catalogue: Mellitorp Occasional table, SGD $99: The width can fit into the space just right.... went to look at it again during last weekend, this time *somehow* i felt that i'd like something slightly longer.... but hubby likes this becos he felt that white goes better with our kitchen, the built seems quite solid and the price is good anyway, we haven't bought it yet cos Ikea delivery is very full until after CNY...... still thinking........ We were eyeing on this $99 Melltorp table which just nicely fits into that 40cm space (narrow!) we have for the kitchen table. but we didn't buy that time due to the full delivery schedule before CNY. and when we went ikea during this weekend... horror of horror... they told us that this long Melltorp table is OUT-OF-STOCK and DISCONTINUED!!! checked stocks from both Ikea Alexandra and Tampines. they actually have stock for the table frame but not the table top almost wanted to cry at that moment cos it took us so long to look for table of this size and now it's not available Disappointed, we continued to walk to the bookshelf section.... and new idea flashed across our mind............ we decided to just go for the good old EXPEDIT bookshelf instead: the height is just right and the depth is just right (39cm!). some more can put in drawers if i want to~ and, who says bookshelves cannot be used in kitchen? only complaint is that it's a bit too short (79cm. Melltorp table is 95cm long, width 38cm). when i voiced that out, hubby raised his eyebrows and went "you want that additional 16cm for what??" then i suggested to use the longer EXPEDIT instead (have it put horizontally on the floor): unfortunately, the request was rejected flatly, AGAIN..................
