Yo yo, yup by right completed last Friday. However, things didn't go so smoothly at final stage, hence to postpone by a week.

1. Crippled by wrong wardrobe design even with picture furnished to contractor. Really duno what to say but disappointing as this is the only big flaw abt e contractor... hence they redo (now done).

2. Kitchen glass backing up nx week.

3. Incorrect nozzle for stove => cannot be used for govt gas when citygas came - even though we checked with the staff prior to purchase , thus they replacing it w the right nozzle due to their negligence.

Rest all done up.

On CNS, u r so lucky to get the m'sian+china team. I got china+indian combo! Wonder did I suffer a worse treatment than u. My first reaction (same as u) when I saw the gate w paint gone like onion skin off Rest of the story U knew la... But very curious if this is a norm faced by everyone.

Just let me knw when u r heading down so can make a trip down too. Like seeing transformation as it lightens up the mood. Oo, really hats off the trespassing auntie lol

ps: don't be too caught up with those so-called "3 sets" at this price scam

Setup: Salesman goes on stage; indicating there's only 3 (or 5 sets) at this special price:

was $3xxx, then thereafter unveil to be $1XXX, suddenly hands are raised, 1, 2, sets are sold..

and there you are, out of fear of missing this deal, grab the last piece thinking you have got

a good catch.

Truth to the matter is; those earlier 2 sales are just decoys. And hopefully by toying with the

consumer's Kiasu mentally, forces him to make a hasty (maybe irrational) decision at tt limited time.

chances are there are many, many of this set available and what more, prices are probably usual

wkend salesprice.

So do your homework; e.g you know you intend to buy this e.g 50" plasma tv, note the sales price

(let's not even go to normal retail price). So you know you get the real deal when the price is right.

Display sets;

Certain display sets; e.g mircowave, refrigators are worth the buy, as they are not used for demostration

purposes. Check the terms and conditions, normal warranty still covers?

TV display- buy or not to buy? Some salespersons says that they are brand new for show only on this expo. But how creditable is it? There are no 'running hours" meters like a car to prove it. So even if you must buy,

the warranty, is it limited? or warranty is like of normal sets?

Do ask for any accessories it comes with, certain display are sold as "As is". E,g no 3D glasses, no delivery etc.

Are you able to replace with another bedframe then?

I've gotten myself a storage bed as well, with a limited space of 3-room, i thought i sure could use all the storage locations which I possibly could find.

As for the bed frame, like you say, due to shortage of storage, I will probably stick with it.

it takes up less electricity (cmp to convenctional oven) and saves precious space.

After 3 days of "openhouse" to the public eye, I've finally got Yale installers to install my main-door lock.

water pressure

Was asked by my contractor to check with the PUB guys regarding my trickling low flow of water.

Mr Shamsudin, a SNr Tech officer with his men came down promptly today to do some checks after I

raised my concern.

Armed with a water pressure bar, he disengaged the to my unit and plant his device to measure of the

water presure.

Findings:

My unit has a healthy 1.4 bar, average expected HDB pressure. however, I'm experiencing a low volume

flow, in such a case; Mr Shamsudin explained that he will raise this issue to the Town Council (TC).

The water tank on the top of each HDB is under the charge of PUB however the pipe distribution to the units are under

TC. It is expected & about time for the TC to upgrade the old alloy main pipe;

though physically the pipe looks pretty decently big, but the actual hole within maybe much smaller, he explained.

Moreover, my unit being in a relatively higher level, it is expected to experience a lower pressure of water. Truth is,

the lower your level your unit is, you will experience a higher pressure. picture a waterfall for instance.

I like the very clean look for both the Hall & Bedroom, no visible sights of ugly trunkings. Nevertheless, the reault of this is all run within

the MBR as I previously posted.

One thing that I learned is, it is not necessary to wait for false ceiling to be up before installation of A/C fancoils.

Should you be doing false ceiling/ Lighting Box, remember to ask them to do a cutout for your proposed A/C fans (as in my Hall) as well as

window curtains/ blinds areas.

From the common bedroom to the master bedroom, how did you get your air contractor to route it to the toilet?

I had a talk with my contractor earlier. It seems that I will have some issues with my aircon trunking.

As seen in this picture, I'll be shifting the position of the aircon to the red box

My contractor tells me that it's not possible to run the aircon trunking through the main beam (where the red arrow is)

So I have to follow the current aircon trunking which is pointed out with the black arrows.

In this picture, it seems that HDB regulations no longer allow the pipe to go through the wall directly to the compressor.

As such, I have to re-route the piping along the yellow box and through the toilet before it gets back to the compressor.

I would like to know, did you managed to run the trunking through the main beam and have it run along the top of the ceiling instead of along the skirting on the floor?

During renovations, it is better to have strangers/friends/relatives to visits often, to have 'ren chi' flow in the empty unit (during renovations), rather than stale environment...more 'ren-chi' moving, the better your house will be.

BTW, is that fridge base? Kind of small....able to fit in bigger fridge?

From your pics, I'm seeing a top beam (with a wall) seperating both your rooms right?

Your current layout seems to be quite optimum, nevertheless by relocating the ac fancoil to top left (at your beam) in your common room is also possible, however, a small portion of trunking will be visible, this trunking will drill through a hole to join to the mbr trunking)

Your contractor is right, going through the beam is prohibited.

My unit doesn't have the beam (as can be seen in the 2nd pc of post #38), thereafter the wall was rebuild with a partition wall.

You can see run the same manner as me, my common bedroom trunking runs like your current layout, however instead of heading down vertically to the ground when, mine hugs along the beam along the room (as seen in 2nd pic of post #129) and thereafter it runs down to the original exit to the compressor when it hits the other side of the room.

I don't like the idea of running along the skirting floor, as it restricts placement of a lot of objects. So I rather run overhead, on top.. Just so happens that I flushes it, hugging along my beam.

I believe your contractor should be experienced enough to advise you accordingly.

PS: your corridor is clean and uncluttered compared to mine.... those inconsiderate neighbors put their potted plants shoecabinets and huge rubbermaids on the corridor, effectively cutting the already narrow pathway less than 3ft....

u shld see my corridor. can't believe the condition of the plants and their supports that my neighbours have. if Bro Dex allows me to post a pic here, u'll see what i mean. it doesn't even look as if the plants are maintained at all, other than watering. all sorts of junk.

i feel like complaining to my TC on this. some more, the longkang is recessed in like a small channel like this ---___---, the drain color is the same as pavement, very easy to stumble and sprain leg as a result...

i'm keeping quiet for now. my corner unit neighbour seems like a nice old lady staying just wif her husband. and her plants and stuff are in a much better condition than my opposite neighbour.

the opposite one....i hv to hold my breath when i walk past his unit if his corridor window is open. and i hv to walk past his unit everytime i go out or come home. his unit has those poorly-ventilated, very very old flats, seldom-cleaned smell typical of those occupied by lone elderly. a bit sour kind of smell. like a very old, damp mattress, u knw?

no offence to the elderly, just illustrating the typical smell. in fact, i try my best to be extra patient wif the elderly. tt's why i'm not intending to feedback to TC unless it gets really too much of a safety hazard. he places his plants on those wooden benches typically used by contractors and painters, and they really look like they would fall apart anytime.

anyway, both of them seem friendly enough, cos they smiled and waved back when i smiled and waved at them. even the corner unit one chatted wif me quite a bit on 1 of my site visits.

1. Is it better to install the A/C fancoils before or after the false ceiling is up?

2. What is a cutout? What is it made of? What is it for?
