golfer 2 Report post Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) contractor damaged 2 pcs of wall tiles when they hacked away the toilet bowl. contractor said the existing wall tiles are all poor workmanship, many have hollow base , blah.. blah.. and recommend me to change all the wall tiles . should i just insist they replace the 2 damaged tiles or do you think the remaning "hollow" wall tiles will give me problems in future? will "hollow" wall tiles cause water leakage to lower floor? CAN I REUSE THE OLD MARBLE TILES (SECOND PHOTO) BY PLASTERING BACK ? Edited June 22, 2010 by golfer

bepgof 20 Report post Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) Typical contractors. If, I were you & if at first they apologised and willing to compensate and thereafter suggesting change of whole tiolet wall tile, I would be very delighted to accept the apology and as well buying their suggestion. By shifting the attention and blame the innocent is completely an irresponsible act, buying their suggestion is agreeing to their plot. I will insist all the way asking them to replace the 2 damage tiles and make good to the wall, no matter how hard they could find such tiles. May be after that, ask another contractor to re-do the whole wall tiles. They should have put some kind of water-proof sealant at L edge, to prevent/minimise water from entering. Same for the pipe's surrounding, need swater-proof sealant. Edited June 21, 2010 by bepgof
