Eating Air 吃风 (PG)

1999| Singapore | English, Mandarin, Hokkien | Color | 100 min | Comedy/Romance

Directors: Kelvin Tong, Jasmine Ng Cast: Benjamin Heng, Alvina Toh, Michelle Chong, Mark Lee

A romance between opposites, Eating Air follows the lives of two teenagers during one of the hottest months in Singapore. For Boy breaking into bridal shops under moonlight is as wildly exciting as taking Girl on her first motorcycle spin. For Girl, hurtling down the highway faster than the speed of sound is as intoxicatingly frightening as wondering where Boy rushes off to everytime he receives a page. Eating Air is about the joys and pangs of teenage love...

One Leg Kicking (PG)

2001 | Singapore | English | Color | 90 min | Comedy

Director : KHOOKOH Cast : Gurmit Singh, Mark Lee, Sharon Au, Moe Alkaff

One Leg Kicking” tells the story about a group of underdogs who form an amateur football team (THE DURIANS) to play in a fictional local league organized by a farsighted sponsor. The prize for the winners: a trip to the 2002 World Cup Finals. Gurmit Singh plays (TAI PO) the common man’s hero, raising his two young children single handedly after his wife passed away. The rest of the “Durians” include Mark Lee (HANDSOME), an ex-convict with major anger management problems, Moe Alkaff (VERNON), a lounge singer struggling against his deadly nemesis, the karaoke machine; and Sharon Au (KIM) a tender but tough tomboy, while Siva Choy (SAMMY BEST) plays the inspirational coach who moulds them into a winning side.

"I'm constantly surrounded by soccer fanatics and it was during the last world cup final when Brazil lost to France that I seriously was interested in making a film with the sport in it. Around 1999, I began working with James Toh on the premise but the treatments were constantly changing and at several points I wanted to drop the project but the one person that urged me on was Joe Ng, a huge soccer nut. One morning, Gurmit's face appeared in my mind so I called him up and said "Gurmit, do you like soccer?" His reply, "I breath and I smell soccer everyday." Hmm... destiny? I felt inspired and pulled in Wei Koh to do the screenplay." - Eric Khoo
