Is It Okay To Buy Furniture Based On Floorplan Only?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Our 1st appt is scheduled late next month (July) and we were thinking of paying a visit to the flat, currently tenanted, to take measurements to buy sofa, TV console, dining table etc. However, the owner refused entry to the flat (citing reasons like not wanting to disturb the tenants & very busy cos need to deal with HDB before 1st appt & there's no reason for us to go to the flat since we alr haf e floorplan), until after 1st appt. :(

Is it reasonable to just buy our furniture solely based on the floorplan? Cos it seems like hdb has a clause which says the floorplan may not be accurate. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/style_images...icons/icon9.gif

Your 1st appt is scheduled late next month (July)

2nd appointment 6-8 week. Assume is 8 week, that will be late Sept

Then reno?

Assume it take 1 mth

late Oct liao

Now only June, you buy so early. What if 4 mth down the road , you saw something nicer, how?

Or may be got pro/pre-national day sale?

YOG sale?

Rat, you seem rather familiar to all kinds of SALEs. Back to floorplan, Mac, still can remember the number of tiles on floor & size of each tile? During housing viewing, I read the number of tiles on floor to estimate the area!Especially the kitchen.

Gentle reminder: Great sale usually comes with "immediate delivery" to clear warehouse cost.

Not worth to "save" that amount, may eventually need to "spend" $$ on another set. Slow slow lah-frontline soldiers very familaiar this rule, so many uncertainties ahead, what's the hurry, want to die ah?

i also feel don't buy now. even though there is a sale... you have so many months time to slowly shop for the furniture wor. decided on the theme already?

yeah, for sale, they usually expect you to clear the stock immediately.

Some stores e.g. IKEA charge extra fee for storing the furniture for a few months. You better ask about the stores about the storage issue before commiting to the purchase.
