Fridge And Washing - China Made Or Korea?

Recommended Posts

Notice that certain reputable brands offer China made fridges and washing machines at a lower price vs their Korea made models.

My old fridge and washing machine were bought 5 years back and they were all Korea made and so far no problems at all.

Since the price differential between China made and Korea made is quite large, it would make sense to go for a China made one now. I am just afraid that the QC may not be as good and therefore creating problems.

Any feedback would be appreciated?

2 school of thoughts here:

1st thought would be to buy high end items cuz it is always assumed to last for a very long time making it vfm in the long run;

another option would be to buy something that meets ur requirments in terms of form & function (i know its difficult, gotta find a halfway point somewhere) & disregard the country of manufacture.

for me, its simple. i'm gunning for vfm appliances. different strokes for different folks. so there. :D

I feel... for everyday high frequent use, better to not go for china made stuff.

Thanks for sharing.

Notice that both of you are going for samsung rs21hnepn. Price range is about 1100.

I am also considering lg gr-b207wvq. It looks very similar to the above bit it's made in china. Price range 950.

Have you considered the later?

All things equal, samsung rs21hnepn gets my vote because:

i) Made in Korea;

ii) Fridge door handle has a spring loaded lever mechanism that makes opening a breeze. Aesthetically it looks better. At least to me. Thus, i believe its worth paying a little bit more for the Samsung variant.

Korean brands are almost on par with the Japanese brands but we must be also be realistic in our expectation of their lifespans, generally if they last 5 years you can consider your investment worthwhile, if you want something to last 20 yrs then you better get a Miele - but there are no guarantees there either. If you're unlucky you get a lemon be it a $1000 or $20,000...

Most if not all reputable brands will eventually move their production plants to emerging nations, its basic economics & there is no escaping that. Does FOXCONN ring a bell? Has it prevented anyone from buying iPhones or Nokias etc? We are buying Toyotas made in Thailand & the world's safest car VOLVO is now Chinese Geely, does it mean it will now be the same standard as your Cherry QQ, & yet ironically its the american-made Toyota parts that are killing people, so much for your white supremacy products.

My point is people are already entrusting their lives & paying from $60,000 for a car than can kill you anytime...you can't really do wrong with a china-made refrigerator or iphone

just my $0.02 worth...i'd still stay away from the baby milk-powder though ;)

removing design wise, the most impt function for the refrigerator is its cooling function.

so looking at the 2, you spend consider reading up samsung's twin cooling sys vs lg icebeam door cooling sys and moist balance crisper.

am more convinced on samsung's specs for me though.

also, have an actual feel of both fridges.

samsung's handle on my selected model is really quite comfortable and ease of opening i feel
