Recommendation For A Decent Sound System.

Recommended Posts

Hey Vicenzo.. Amongst Velodyne and SVS subs, Which do you reckon would suit the B&W 684 685 theatre systems? budget would be 1000+++ cos alternative could have been the B&W 610 sub

I would rate B&W's PV-1 sub the best amongst the lot. It has a very high WAF & performance is solid.

As for the other subs, I always look up to fellow-HTS who are adventurous, you wont go wrong with either the SVS or Velodyne.

The Velodyne SPL-800i (proud owner) delivers a hefty 2000watts dynamic power. Its also **** heavy at 30kg. Alternatively grab

the CHT 12Q model. Its a 12" forward firing sub.

Cheers

Hi Bros,

There are many subs out there beside the usual one , if you dont mind buying from oversea can try products like Hsu , Epik , Seaton , Emotiva or are great value and performance for your money . Happy searching.

At the moment there is no local dealer for Emotiva, hopefully in the near future there would be one. :D

Wif Scott & Vic advise, land myself a svs pc12+ @ $1850, delivery in dec. Mine is da bash amp, & waiting for the sledge amp & compare da diff. If the diff isn't dat great, may get da sledge instead. Was quoted by them diff ard $200-$250, but I greatly doubt so. Svs US website oredi state the pc12+ w/ sledge @ US$1399!! It may be sold for ard $2.5k locally. Now, it's juz a waiting game...

Bro, congrats on your great home.

Whats the equipment you placed on top of your OPPO83? Try avoiding placing anything on top of it.

Am wondering where youre going to place your PC12. For your home size, a Velodyne 10Q would suffice. But that's my opinion.

Cheers

oh, da eqpt on top of da Oppo is the kuro mediabox. Dats my initial setup, but heard some spinning sound from my Oppo when I play bluray. I switch these 2 eqpt, wif da Oppo ontop, & da noise is gone. Figured out dat it's not good for da Oppo when u hear weird stuff comin out from it. Will be placing my sub on the front left side of the tv, @ da corner near the settee. 10Q's footprint is bigger, & I'm trying not to have any sub dat is potruding further than my tv console. My only worry now is da 707 cuz due to da tv console, no ventilation is done. Need to figure out a way in how to install a ventilation fan @ da side of the console... "headache oredi"

Bro

If your OPPO83 emits funny sound, do take it back for servicing as I believe, is covered under their warranty.

Patrick at Audio Iconic (Adelphi basement) is the official OPPO distributor.

cheers

oh, da noise, I believe is due to the kuro mediabox sitting on top of the Oppo. After I remove the mediabox, no more noise oredi.

Hi

What kind of advice are you looking for as youve already bought your HTS?

1st 100 hrs run in means you just play your equipment on a normal/daily basis say eg 2-3 hrs/day. After the 100hr mark, you'll notice

some difference in the audio output. It tends to be more fuller.

If youve come to this forum earlier, I would have advise u AGAINST getting any HTS from Courts.

Good thing u didnt get the 1.4 HDMI cable as your Onkyo 607 is only a certified HDMI 1.3a receiver. These salesmen have zero product

knowledge.

Overall for the money you paid, Onkyo speakers are not renowned sonically. Jamo sub would be a strange combination. I wonder why.

hope this info helps.

cheers
