Recommendation For A Decent Sound System.

Recommended Posts

Geez. Youre getting a bit pensive & using the B&W 800 against me. Overpriced or not is really not your concern izzit? I can afford it & will this be your problem? For the goodsake of this forum, kindly no personal attacks please.

If you dont like my choices of recommendations, recommend something else. No need to get personal by saying Im BIAS towards certain brands. Did I slight you in any way?

The wager is about if u can find proof that I tried to shoved B&W800 down anyone throats. Dont understand what has parang or gangsterism has to do in this forum.

Cheers

Now wait a second. Since when I made personal attack remarks??? Since when I accuse you for shoving 800 series to anyone??? Why wager money at me then??? That statement you made is a personal attack. You are insulting someone with money! That's uncalled for a gentleman debate. B&W is over-priced here and that's a fact. You can afford then by all means. For the record, CM series is as capable of doing stereo/music and in HT. Didn't you know that any speakers that do well in stereo does well in HT but not the reverse? Scan thru this B&W Club, bro. It's too bad you can't take comments for others. Have it your own way. I won't be wasting time arguing anymore.

For the readers:

there are tons of option out there. Do take reference of the list I made. When considering your HT or stereo, placement is very important. The same system will sound totally different in your room and in your hall. Speakers made the most prominent different to any changes follow by pre-amps, amps and source. Factor more money to speakers as they are more consistent. Get mid range players (<1k) and AVRs (500 - 1k). They are technology-driven hence they get obsolete very quickly. Everything in the equipment chain make a difference. HIFI is all about matching, it does not mean expensive = good.

vratenza: You are not going to miss anything using PS3 as blu-ray source. Go avsforum.com. Tons of them as using blu-ray as source. There are several and consistent firmware release to make fix your PS3 problems. They are releasing firmware patches for 3D capabilities too.

Good Day, cheers

Hi omegared,

I think vicenzo is recommending based on what he knows and feels is right. There are definitely many different types/brands of sound system around in the market, but short of "experts" who can give us advice, vicenzo is definitely trying his best to help us, the renotalkers. Of course, we believe that you are also a very knowledgeable person in the field of sound systems and we really appreciate if you and your friends can also give us your expert advice based on your knowledge. This way, it will be beneficial to all the amatuer renotalkers like myself.

Cheers.

BTW, I have got a question, I understand that the bookshelf speakers and the floor standing speakers are of different category. If the bookshelf speakers like the DT Pro Cinema 600 or Tannoy SFX5.1 are selling at the same price as the floor standing Jamo S506 HCS3. Which is a better buy?

Hi Edward, Vicenzo definitely has the right the view his opinion. I'm pointing out that his suggestions are too bias. My tone may be hash and I apologize for tht.

Dt 600 and sfx are classified under satellite speakers. Without considering other factors like sound and matching components, Dt n tannoy are suited for bedroom or small room. Jamo will sound "better" and louder in your hall. Try cranking your Dt loud in your hall and you will find it sounded hash and distorted. Law of physics apply.

Firstly, thank you to all my supporters for the emails, sms & messages. I will take in all kind advices & well wishing.

Yes Dave, overpriced for poor sods is value for money to some.

I will still dish out advice/recommendations for HTS if need be, kindly PM me if must or else everything will resume as it is.

Cheers

Take it down a note guys. Everybody is entitled to his own opinion. Be open minded & take comments on the forum with a pitch salt. Go check it out & verify it yourself. Lastly, avoid acting like a child.. no name calling or slamming uncalled for remarks at each other. Let's make this forum a nice place to share your experiences, not bickering forum. Cheers!

Can I just buy AV that support 3D so that I can save the cost to get 3D player?

Thks in advance!

well if i'm not wrong, you will definetely need an 3d blu ray player for playing 3D...unless you are using samsung conversion 2D-->3D tv....i try viewing a few model of the tv not using the original source from the player. the effect don't really seem to be good. without an AVR, you wont get nice audio output. you can still play 3d content via 3d blu ray player without an AVR.

include the onkyo 708....any chance to get a average 5.1 system? prefer those boston size one... :)

Which boston series? What is your dimension of location for your setup? More music or movie? You may want to consider Denon 1611 or Yamaha v467 avr which are around 600, leaving 1.1k for a decent 5.1 speakers. Consider this Wharfedale

:)
