strawberry8 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2010 Hi My electrician advised me to put Clipsal power points and lighting ON-OFF switch instead of Legrand stating his customers who put up Legrand have lots of problems. Appreciate forummers who use Legrand feedback here. The prices of Clipsal vs Legrand (form Choo Chiang) is almost 3 times the price !

Appreciate forummers who use Legrand feedback here. The prices of Clipsal vs Legrand (form Choo Chiang) is almost 3 times the price ! Errrm...as far as price difference go, you gotta compare relatively similar series between the two brands. I've got Legrand Mallia series installed for all my power points and light switches in the entire house. There are a few exceptions of power points that I've opted for the Clipsal KB series (cheaper) installed in obscure and non-visible places From my own experience and from what I've heard, Legrand Mallia series switches might have the tendency of not being able to align the gangs properly upon installation...not all...maybe one or two. But so far, I haven't got much problems with it. Cheers!

therat 18 Report post Posted June 7, 2010 My electrician will supply me - 1 way / 2 way gang switches and power point. He say can choose between Legrand , Clipsal and MK brand. Only white is available. No difference in the quotation. Which one will be the best choice? Any commend?
strawberry8 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2010 my electrician refused to use other brands except Clipsal. He said he rather earn less than to have me going back to him for fixing things later sigh...donno who is the customer he is a stubborn old man He said MK is the worst, followed by Legrand. *dont shoot me, i am merely repeating what he said* I also suspect he gets a good commission from using Clipsal? But Clipsal is the most expensive, from Choo Chiangs quote. Mine is all-in prices (supply & install): New single power point - $35 New double powerpoint - $55 New heater point - $90 New aircon, washing machine pt = $35 Lights - $8 each (but will get lightings.com to install as in case anything goes wrong with lights, lighting shop bears full responsibility) I think this is market rate loh. Let me know if this is not.
kyan007 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2010 My electrian, recommend me MK. I wanted Legrand but he say might not be good. To me I was using MK before rennovate, so I'm fine with his recommendation. I think Clipsal and MK very similiar (personal opinion). If you ask me, go for the most expensive brand - seen no different in quote. But, you must try the switch yourself. Some are noisy and some are easy to break.
Eurypylus 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2010 imho, MK 13A power outlet are more for safety hence more difficult to use 2 pin plug with it. Their material are more heat resistance, but more easily crack. Clipsal switches have more flexibility. You can buy a 4 gang switch and replace one with the fan speed control.
