bennzi 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2010 hi, just to check if any or the majority of you installed Ceiling Fan and aircon at the same room? meaning 3 bedrooms, fan and aircon installed? was thinking i can save money just to on the fan for regular usage. Unless weather super hot, will turn on the aircon instead. This gives me the flexibility to choose or save electricity as and when. eiffel76 1 Report post Posted June 2, 2010 im using this combination for my room...seriously ceiling fan and aircon rocks! those standing fan jus cant achieve this effect. anyw my electricity consumption is 1kwh per hr...so every night its 8kwh to SP... bennzi 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2010 Hi pal, this ideal if you're using L-box for lighting or light kit for the ceiling fan. (As most of the room only hv one lighting point) Yes, by using ceiling fan only will save $$ as compare to using aircon. If you use the ceiling fan in conjunction with air conditioning in hot weather, you can set the thermostat to a higher than normal setting to save on energy costs as the ceiling fan will makes the room more even cooling, This is bcos the air movement from a ceiling fan in the room can make the room feel cooler. I've tried using i) only aircon alone ii) aircon with ceiling fan and iii) only ceiling fan. Results for :- i) Very comfortable sleeping in such enviroment, but the electricity is high, $$ also high. ii) Comfortable sleeping in such enviroment, electricity is lower as i've set the thermostat lower, so $$ also lower. ii) Less comfortable sleeping in such enviroment, as the temperature is not as cold as in the aircon enviroment. Of course the electricity is the lowest. $$ also lowest. Hope this helps Cheers pal Thanks for the advice man, the 3 scenario you give really convinced me i was wondering, how come few ppl do that. Most ID mag or ppl houses i been to, have only aircon, very few or none i actually do see this combinations. Will definitely go with this combi.......
