What Do You Think Of The Feature Wall?

Recommended Posts

simple can be nice. but do remb that computer image will always looks very much nicer than in actual implementation. Things u might have to consider:

- ugly speaker wires

- curtains

the picture look nice bcoz everything is in verticle structure, making the ceiling look high and roomy, gives u a feel-good feeling. If it's HDB, then the ceiling height won't be that high. if u put a fan, then will turn your living room into a disco light ... soon u'll puke.

Ya, dun think you would want to put lights above the fan as the moving blades will create flickering effects. Also cove ceiling can be home to lizards and stuff.

Opinions? Too simple?

Should I do L box instead or keep to this lighting arrangement?

I'm having ceiling fan.

Remember - you will get "tired" about those once has been "very nice feature wall" - Simplicity is the key, next better keep some money in the pocket for the next "feature wall".

The wall colour looks better than the feature wall. Personally, I will not spend money on feature wall.

Nothing fanciful, just a simple cable cover (may not be the correct name) that matches the wall colour.

I also think its main purpose is to hide the cables.

Will speak to my ID again.

I'll not do the centre row of lights as advised by u all.

Renovation with a tight budget is such a bother

ya, me too. weighing the 3 options now:

1. do feature wall and tv console to wall mount tv

2. do feature wall but buy ready console, also wall mount

3. no feature wall, buy tv console, tv sitting on console. As for the wall, maybe paint a different coloour

I'm doing option 3 for my new place. :good:

My old place got built-in this and built-in that, but after a few years, the condition like not very good and then I don't know what to do cos throw also cannot, improve it like waste of money, so just live with it and find them eyesore.

my ceiling design is actually opposite from yours. with false ceiling at the sides and cove lights coming in toward the feature wall. my feature wall is 7" and i also have a ceiling fan.

My house has a beam in the middle divided the area into dinning and living which i need to design a feature wall under the beam with TV rotating, can anyone give suggestion on the idea....

Beam height? I have 5 beams, height all =12". I did false ceiling & those "boxes" with PLC downlight to counter the visual effects, beam become not obvious, except the one in Kitchen which I cannot do ANYTHING.

Before:

After: False ceiling 4", beam height remains 8"
