curryqueen 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2010 Hi, would like to check for those who bought a domino GAS hob (not induction), which brand did you buy and for how much and where did you buy it? I just went to Harvey Norman and saw the electrolux, bosch and brandt gas hobs in stainless steel and glass. Really like the bosch domino gas hob in glass BUT SO EX!! It's double the price of those in stainless steel! Electrolux also not bad coz got cast-iron stand, but somehow it didn't quite appeal to me... So would really appreciate everyone's advice on this! vhardono 1 Report post Posted May 21, 2010 Based on my opinion,Bosch is a good choice compared to Electrolux and Brandt in term of quality and finishing domino hob is normally is more expensive since it still "made in Europe" If u intend to purchase Bosch appliances, try Goh Ah Bee or Everjoint their prices are 15-20% lower than the "listed price" on Harvey normann or other big store
summerflowers 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2010 I got Brandt as that is the design without the stainless steel rim/frame. Moreover, it's power is 6kw. So far, the strongest I've seen around. It looks easier to clean and maintain too. Not big and bulky. Got it as a package price. It's $699 before discount.
sff 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2010 I also thought of buying domino gas hob. Saw Teka, Cuizino, Brandt. Thought that the hob so small and cute, can save space. Then when I saw the price, I cannot believe my eyes. 1 burner more expensive than 4 burners. But of course the burner type will be different. Then want to consider 2 burner domino, but the space between the 2 burners so close together, so in the end, give up. bought the normal 74cm glass hob with 2 powerful burners. May take up more space than I like, but at least won't cook until pek chek!
new_home_maker 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2010 I also thought of getting domino - in fact 2 domino side by side - one with 2 gas hob burner and one with 2 induction hod. The reason for doing so that I am not able to find one full size hob with above combo. However price is expensive ! so still thinking ! Maybe wait for GSS ! Hi Summerflowers, Any problem with the Brandt induction hob (2 hob type) with the HDB electricity loading ? My ID told me for old HDB flats, induction hob will overload and cause the house to tripped ?
summerflowers 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2010 Hi Summerflowers, Any problem with the Brandt induction hob (2 hob type) with the HDB electricity loading ? My ID told me for old HDB flats, induction hob will overload and cause the house to tripped ? Hi, My hob is not in yet. But we have provided an outlet for this induction hob already. If there is an issue, the electrician will have voiced out.

Better be safe than sorry - double check with your electrician just in case they overlooked. It actually depends on the total loading from your other items like air-con, washing machine on at the same time ... etc.

I asked my id before, can will electricity trip if one day I have a party at home and switch on these stuff: 1. 4 aircons (4 rooms all got people chatting) 2. 2 tv (relatives watching) 3. computer (children playing) 4. fans (in living room) 5. storage heater (somebody bathe) 6. washing machine (might as well wash clothes same time) 7. oven (mother cook) 8. lights whole house (party what, so of course whole house) 9. induction hob 16amp (mother still cooking) 10. not forgetting the fridge (always on) He simply said, no induction. So I stuck to a gas hob.
summerflowers 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2010 Induction hob though 16amp has already provided some allowance when you on the 2 rings at full blast , maximum power. Usually, we can't switch on to max. or else liquid in the pot will spillover and become difficult to cook not to mention control.

Hi summerflowers, Have you started using the Brandt gas hob and induction oven combination? I am down to selecting either the above or a rinnai 2 burner (w/inner flame) Thought I should checked with home owners for their experience before making the choice. Thanks!
