Reconstruction Approval - Is An Achitect Required?

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I am currently applying permit from BCA for reconstruction of my home from a 2storey terrace to a 2.5 storey house. my gfa has increased by more than 50%.

I know i need a QP for the BCA building plan approval and TOP.

But do i need to engage an architect for the approval application and TOP?

Or can i use my current PE (professional Engineer) only for the application?

many thanks.

David

Hi David,

Also think you're in a wrong site too but will give you an advice in my profession's point of view.

Yes, you need an Architect for a sound advice aesthetically & functionally to bring you from Written Permission to TOP & eventually CSC.

Though you also need a professional engineer to ensure that your bldg structure can withstand the increase in load from 2 to 2.5sty, they cannot advice you on designs. Since you are spending a lot, why not ensure a functional layout, practical materials which only a good Architect can give you.

Good luck.
