Rust Free Protection And Coat Protection

Recommended Posts

For new car, is it important to protect the chassis from rust?

The sales mentioned that continental car does not have rust protection so it's important to apply it. It costs $385 and comes with 10 yrs warranty.

For Paint protection, is it important or can DIY?

It costs $160 one time. Is it expensive?

When I have my 1st car, I asked the same. Now, I do not bother about these. I try to change car every 3-4 yr, before major overhauls which are really "costly"

-Timing belts,

- Compressor

-Absorbers

-tires,break, coolant, battery, engineer oil/gearbox oil - are consumables, get them changed before complete breakdown

Noted. I feel all those that are part of car maintenance should be done regularly to maintain the car in tip-top condition.

I try to use the car for 7-8 years if possible ...

I also try to use as long as possible, but....

-compressor >$600, easily spoilt when at engine at high rpm & sitch aircon on/off.

- 4 Absorbers >$1,500, usually 3 yr the spring & gas no good already, lost the "damping" effect

- Timing belt >$2,000 with engine gasket..+ time loss

- Battery, 70AH >$100/pc

- Tire, normal, cheap >$70/pc

- Engineer Oil change+ filters >$300, worth to get good brand

- Some more road tax + insurance

- Got scratches here & there, I don't bother

All "waste" money, but convenient.

Agree ...

Car is a "waste" of money but on the other hand it's convenient.

Doing reno w/o car is like ****. Have to spend lots $$ for taxi.

Waste time to travel here and there.

Troublesome to take bus/mrt/taxi
