curryqueen 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2010 wow...thats quite a bomb to spend. Hope it turns out well! How much did you spend on your grilles ah? If I rem correctly, yours is wrought-iron? I also dunno why mine so ex.. I know aluminum gates are abt only $200-300. Maybe I should change my gates to aluminum and leave my window grilles as mild steel? That way, it will cost below $1K.. Both are fixed grilles. personally i would go for matching looks, i.e. window grilles match with door grille. Nicer mah. not sure why mild steel so expensive? just tried to wiki mild steel, said to be easily rusted also. my ex-owner had aluminium door grille, looks very flimsy leh...not advisible lah. lilithfiend 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2010 Thanks! I think the light coloured toilet tiles would look less dramatic but will hopefully flow with the kitchen look. Aaron quoted me $580 for each window grille based on the specifications I stated (powder coated, fixed grille, 2 inch gap) He also sounded very busy and wasn't keen to do an on site quote, so never mind lah. I wasn't keen on F&A actually (long story...) but his price was the cheapest out of the 3 quotes I called, so I took them in the end .. (Ultimately, tt's all abt cost..) I hope they will do a gd job with the grilles, will let you guys know how it turns out! wah seh, $580 is **** ex leh..! ya he does sound v.busy. i asked him to go down to my place to measure the gate (i'm getting him to do my gate) and i told him i'll send him the design via email. he said ok but not sure if he's done it yet. have to chase him soon. what does the pinnacle gate look like? any pics? Pinnacle's gate look like this, but my gaps btw the grilles will be even. My windows grilles will also have same design.Vertical grilles with 2 horizontal strips across..easier to clean than horizontal grilles Edited July 19, 2010 by curryqueen

Banned 1 Report post Posted July 19, 2010 How does one decide btw practicality and looks? I would really like a long wooden dining table, but a glass top dining table is so much more practical. A wooden table would have stains, scratches, scuff marks over time, whereas a glasstop dining table would be so easy to clean! But a wooden table is so much warmer looking than a glass table... How? How? How? cannot decide. how about buying a glass piece and put over ur wooden dining table? Easy to clean and the look u wan..

curryqueen 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) I finally found the perfect bedframe I was looking for!! I have been searching and searching for a simple, super single wooden bedframe with a plain wooden headboard. I cannot believe how hard it is to find a wooden bedframe without a padded headboard..The scanteak ones that I like are available in queen or king size only. The one I've found is a secondhand, retro 1960s bedframe that's been restored. This is the queen-sized version. They have a super single version which I bought immediately coz it's not easy to get a super single vintage bedframe(it's usually single or queen). I love the pencil legs and clean lines! .... I know it's still too early to buy the non-essential stuff, but I couldn't resist! I bought a restored teak display cabinet as well. This is one of the very few with pencil legs. The others that are in the shop have flat or U-shaped legs that are heavier looking. The handles of the one I bought are different from the picture below and much nicer.. I'm a sucker for pencil legs.. Edited July 22, 2010 by curryqueen
