i was told that cannot remove. reason being that the wire runs thru the whole block, so if you remove it, all your neighbours above/below it cannot use it.

it quite hideous, but luckily my sofa blocks most of the view. :)

Wow! I can't believe what 3 days of hacking can do. I knew on paper that I would be hacking quite a lot of stuff, but it was only upon seeing the place after being hacked that I realised how much was hacked.

Before: Wall btw LVR & BEDRM2

After: Wall btw 2 bedrms gone;5ft of wall btw LVR & BEDRM 2 gone

CIMG0175DesktopResolution.jpg

I can now see the main door from the MBR

Extension of MBR toilet - wall partially erected

Where my MBR sink will have to be

My new sewage pipes :D So nice & clean

CIMG0172DesktopResolution.jpg

Common toilet will no longer have black tiles & black feature wall as per previous post. I've gone to the other end and opted for white & light grey instead

Here's a closer look of the common toilet feature tile:

CIMG0182DesktopResolution.jpg

Had originally wanted it to be silver, but decided to go for a less contrasting color & play on textures instead.

Kitchen cabinet & tiles all gone:

Toilet wall all gone too! Will place a pocket sliding dr there for the common toilet.

They are going to do waterproofing & tiling these couple of days.. praying that the tiler will be gd and it would look nice.

I've settled my grilles & gate with F & A Aluminum. Black powder-coated mild steel grilles & gates with 2 inch gap btw each grille. Let see how it turns out.

No leh, quite alright what.. My 2 window grilles (LVR & BDRM2) were $400 each. My gate was $520. But the design is customized lah.. Will look like Pinnacle@Duxton's main gate.

Oh, btw called your town council locksmith.. no can do. :( They only do your area.

Wonder why my town council doesn't have a locksmith contractor?

It's actually a bit scary for me to see the progress.. the realization that I would be moving out for gd hasn't fully hit me yet. With each stage of reno (and with each cheque I come out), the reality of me moving is getting closer and closer.

It's different when I was living overseas alone. Now, with me living away from my parents while all of us are in Singapore, I feel different... like I'm all grown up!

How does one decide btw practicality and looks?

I would really like a long wooden dining table, but a glass top dining table is so much more practical.

A wooden table would have stains, scratches, scuff marks over time, whereas a glasstop dining table would be so easy to clean!

But a wooden table is so much warmer looking than a glass table...

How? How? How? cannot decide.

After lurking in this forum for more than a year, I've decided to start a T-blog to increase the number of 3rm reno blogs in the forum. :)

Not sure how frequently I can update the blog, but for now, here is the flr plan:

Simplified_plan_3room2.jpg

It's a low floor, corridor unit that is just 2 minutes walk from the Serangoon Circle Line interchange and just down the road from my parents.

The gd thing about my unit is that I only have 1 corner unit neighbour on my side of the floor. There are 2 other units on the other side of the floor but we are separated by a VERY LONG corridor. No lift yet though, so must climb up.

Second appointment is in late June, so will probably need to start sourcing for contractors soon. Reading so many blogs on IDs and contractors has gotten me a little stressed out with all the possible things that could go wrong.. but will take things as they come... praying that I will be able to find a gd & honest contractor that can work within the very small budget I have in mind.

One thing I would definitely want is to paint 1 living room wall & perhaps the entire common bedroom in matte black (hence the moniker "The Cave" for my flat). I have lots of bks, anime figurines, paintings, etc to display, so am not too worried abt the flat being too dark and dull... I'm quite sick of white. The only place where white will be seen is on the ceiling, toilets and kitchen. :D

Hey Curryqueen, Congrats on your reno jouney :D Yours must be a 3 NG with an attached toilet and a store room, convenient!

I will be embarking on the journey of my renovation soon. Have selected a contractor for the time been, applying permit and waiting for his 3D drawings.

May again trouble Lilithfiend to give a helping hand as to how to add on to the existing t-blog! I'm a computer idot! :P

Thanks! I think the light coloured toilet tiles would look less dramatic but will hopefully flow with the kitchen look.

Aaron quoted me $580 for each window grille based on the specifications I stated (powder coated, fixed grille, 2 inch gap) :jawdrop: He also sounded very busy and wasn't keen to do an on site quote, so never mind lah.

I wasn't keen on F&A actually (long story...) but his price was the cheapest out of the 3 quotes I called, so I took them in the end .. (Ultimately, tt's all abt cost..)

I hope they will do a gd job with the grilles, will let you guys know how it turns out!

Harros, Harros!

No worries, T- blog quite easy once you get the hang of it.. if a computer dinosaur like me can do it, you won't have a prob at all!

Nope.. mine is a very old and tiny 3S. Only 64sqm.

wow...thats quite a bomb to spend. Hope it turns out well! :)

more pics more pics! :)

yeap living on your own also is a huge step to take, its part of growing up (or old) :P

do you have keys for your lettterbox now..? If got keys, not hard to DIY. the cam lock can be removed rather easily from inside, so just have to bring the cam lock to hardware shop to get an exact same one.

If you are changing doors, can ask the door guy to help also, maybe charge u minimal fees. Locksmiths need to charge u for transportation mah...

anyway, for dining table, glass is easier to take care la. My dad has 2 wooden tables, end up putting glass on top to protect the wood. :P

glass can get black one, also swee swee...
