dbkungfu 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) Hi keys collected around 4pm yesterday. I am now the official owner Did a review with ID, faces some challenge already 1. my wanna buy rinnai hobs and franke double sinks is too big for my small kitchen. 2. need to conceal my common bathroom "pipes" to match design & save space for shower area 3. Some existing miscolor granite floor tiles due to water soak - ID suspect water sip in from outside structure, may need to ask hdb to rectify. will be selling off the stainless steel kitchen cabinet this week. wf had managed to contact contractor to review today. Plus some renotalker had contact on interest to buy. Wish me luck ! ... anyway, due to lateness of the hdb process, my ID can only submit permit successfully end of the day, so reno have to be delay to may21 instead of may20. dbkungfu 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2010 Hi 2nd hand Contractor came to see stainless steel kitchen cabinet, said too thin (0.5mm), so may warp if used for a while. So he said quite useless if he buy it. So decided not to sell to any renotalker ... to avoid giving them more problem later. Will just sell to kalang guni ... if they still not interested then ask my ID to throw away
dbkungfu 0 Report post Posted May 19, 2010 Hi I notice there is a scv connector available in my bomb shelter ... just wonder whether anyone ever place their scv modem, wireless router in bomb shelter & still able to connect using wireless from living room and rooms. I plan to locate my wireless g router & dlink nas in there. 'cos I find it neater compare to locating those appliance in my studyroom.... like a small server room Probably upgrade to wireless-n soon. btw, I going to place my shuttle htpc in my new tv console & connect wirelessly to the router. currently it works well in my old home. dbkungfu 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) Updates - no chance to take photo yet, probably tomorrow Day 1 (may/21 - friday) - common/mbr toilet hacking, kitchen dismantling Not so smooth ... hacking start for about 2-3 hours. ID already called that receive complain from downstair neighbor. Anyway, he mentioned he will still continue until HDB officer called him. Finally, ID called me, HDB asked to stop & continue on monday as owner got valid reason - got small children sleeping . Understand need to be considerate to other but like this then how to complete reno in time. Foresee definitely will complain again since successful 1st time. ID tried to calm me, by telling there is more worst situation than me, where there is one project, he can only start work after 2pm. as neighbor work night shift. anyone face this kind of problem before ? Hmmm..didn't realize that even with a valid reno permit for hacking during the first few days, HDB could still ask you to stop anytime as soon a neighbour ain't happy 'bout it. But don't worry, dude...hacking would only a couple more days right? Edited May 22, 2010 by hcbing

When RF pass through wall, there will be signal degradation, bomb shelter walls are thicker than your normal walls & this will add to your signal loss. Nothing beats a test run though, you can easily plug-in your wireless inyour bomb shelter & use your laptop to measure the signal strengths before you commit to setting up the infra for your "server room". Do bear in mind bomb shelters are poorly ventilated, this also affects your electical equipments' life-cycle.

But don't worry, dude...hacking would only a couple more days right? Hi hcbing yup, actually mine need 1day only 'cos only bathrooms need to hack. My wf suggest to called HDB for explaination if still complain next time. maybe HDB practise double standard . anyway, meet up with ID today, he explain that the downstair neighbor complain that her baby just come back from hospital, so need to rest. I guess pity her also. let's see next week, as she mentioned that she will be away monday. My ID even go around informing neighbor before hacking start, unfortunately this neighbor didnt open her door. For mine, heard from mine tat my downstairs neighbour came up to complain, say he is working night shift at a police department.. but nv ask us to stop work, luckily.. hi jeffcraze wow ... police officer scary. They are well train to "handle" people u know. I hope not CID. lucky for u, u can continue. anyway, chit chat with my new neighbor today, told them to get ready to face noise for 1 month, they said no worry. Luckily got friendly same floor neighbors :D When RF pass through wall, there will be signal degradation, bomb shelter walls are thicker than your normal walls & this will add to your signal loss. Maybe when my reno abot 70% done, now too dusty. maybe can try to access neighbor wireless Edited May 22, 2010 by dbkungfu
dbkungfu 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2010 (edited) Day 2 (Saturday) - discussion on electrical points, air-con piping, solar-film 1. Discussion with ID on electrical points. Only need to add 2-3 points only. Save cost 2. Air-con contractor (my babysitter's husband) - need to shelve my initial plan to place all aircon top of door due no space above room3 door as taken up by main house structure (suddenly cant remember the term). So need to reallocate aircon, end up next suitable place is on top of window. Need to run pipe around MBR to reach both rooms. ahhh going to look ugly , no choice. But at least will be covers by my wardrobe and bedframe. 3. Solar film (v-cool) - marc come on time, show me some solar film sample. Ask me whether I open window all the time or have aircon in living room. I got no aircon at livingroom, so he suggested to go for mid range (absorb lesser heat) & will half price compare to higher end. opt for clear one. Did measurement for all windows except kitchen and small window (next to air-con) . Mentioned will provide me pricing later after he calculate. Installation will take 2-3 hours but need to be done before window grille is up. Had not commit yet, if over budget will do main living room windows only. Day 1 - result Living room/dining - with floor protection, include all rooms Kitchen - dismantling only, no hacking, see the line on the floor, tapped it myself to visualize my L shape kitchen cabinet "Semi"-hack bathroom - to continue on monday Common Bathroom MBR bathroom Edited May 22, 2010 by dbkungfu
