Beeblebrox000 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2010 Dear GG, Thank you for your reply. When we chose the black marble sink at d'bodhi, we didn't notice any cracks - but then we were not actually looking closely at the sink. We didn't inspect it at all. We are quite naive and trusting most times. After reading about your comments about cracked sinks, I had the confidence to phone them again. This time, they suggested we meet them with photos of the sink and to discuss the next step. When we arrived at the shop, they saw the photos and showed us the available sinks at the shop. We didn't choose any of the sinks there as hubby didn't dare trust marble sinks anymore. The shop had some lava stone sinks but they were all sold out when we were there. Anyway, the shop staff was reasonable enough to allow for a "swap". We will return the sink to them and we get to choose a furniture item of similar value (or we top up the value if it is a more expensive item). This suits us fine so we left the shop relieved and pleased. We haven't found the furniture item we wanted yet so we will probably visit Journey East or wait for the new collection from d'bodhi before we decide on it. Thanks for telling me about the sister shop, Journey East. I really like the furniture design at d'bodhi - hopefully we can find a suitable coffee table from there soon. By the way, I love your house design. It looks gorgeous - even before the furniture has been put in. It actually looks bigger than the build-up area of 2800 sq ft. My place's build-up area is 2700 sq. ft but it looks much more smaller than yours! Good luck with the move and the unpacking. Which movers did you use? I had over 110 boxes - and have only managed to unpack 16 boxes so far. I moved 1 month ago. I think it will take me 6 months to unpack everything. MY kitchen is only 75% ready so I can't enjoy my hosue fully yet. Sigh! The backyard is also a mess! Hope everything goes smoothly for you!!

Livinstyle 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2010 (edited) GG, all i can say is fabulous house! Really spacious space and a big big kitchen. Can't wait to see more pics. Noticed that you have both induction and gas hob in your kitchen. Do you have a separate wet kitchen? I would not bear to have my helper abusing the pretty kitchen that you have. green giraffe 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2010 wow, envy envy envy .. such alot of space you have! have not been very on-the-ball with following t-blogs here, but this is def one that is not to be missed! btw I read yr post on yr laminated glass door. All that rectified? Thanks froggy for the kind words. Yes we have installed a new frosted glass door with rubber stopper at the top and bottom. The good thing is that the toddler is now more cautious with all glass doors (which we do have some big ones around the house) and all the other monkeys are more cooperative now when it comes to handling the doors gently (its probably wired in them to bang doors when they see one). Thanks livingstyle, the kitchen is indeed spacious. Have offered a baker friend to conduct small baking classes in the kitchen so that i can start learning to bake. We dont have a wet kitchen. We cook simple meals most of the time (soup for the kids), we also like to steam (hence the steam oven), bake or grill our dishes. Moreover, helper is quite conscientious in keeping kitchen clean. I have developed an obsessive compulsive urge to wipe the kitchen counter top repeatedly. And its rubbing off on my kids. You can see a little 80cm tall monkey holding a white cloth hanging around the kitchen scrutinising the white counter top and wiping any stain off immediately when he spotted one. green giraffe 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2010 thanks GG, will wait for your detailed reply the wooden sticks on the boundary, are they bamboo sticks? how was it installed on your fences? you had some green fence in your earlier photos. The wooden bamboo screen can be bought from places like Hawaii landscape and Far East florist. It comes in various sizes. Ours is 2m (height) by 3m (width) and cost $180 from Hawaii landscape. Found similar ones at Far East florist Bedok branch at about $140. We needed 11 pcs for the whole garden but managed to buy 6 only. Have placed orders for the rest. It was a good alternative to cover the ugly green fence for now. Our contractor helped our to install. It's quite simple, they just tie the bamboo to the existing fence. However, we heard from our gardener that it will not last long, maybe 2 years.

Heard that the bamboo screen will last probably about 3 years, depending on the location and condition. Ours being a high humidity weather somehow limits its lifespan. However depending on its location... if it is in an area where there's sunlight, it might last longer. Can't see clearly if your bamboo is stuck to the soil ground. Usually it's the part nearer to the soil that will rot first. You're tempting me to replace my wooden fence with these bamboo sticks! Btw, how much psf for your carpet grass? Haha, i'm not sure if i can developed an obessive urge like you to be constantly cleaning the place repeatedly! Ok, i admit i'm lazy! Chances are i'm opting for a black counter top with white cabinets. I'm still hoping to squeeze in an island within my smaller kitchen, will have to be a tweeny tiny island though. Hopefully, the island will come in handy for baking.
