An alternative to cutting cost for glass backsplash:

- Paint the glass. A glass manufacturer would be able to do that. A clear glass will cost more and it will give a pure white result on white paint. To use white paint on normal glass, the result will be a little greenish.

Actually mine is using white coloured tempered glass rather than the normal glass. If painted with aqua blue, it should look nice too.

Its not necessary to do the entire length, some owner do it only at the hod area. Doing the entire stretches is look nicer and also easier to clean. No more cleaning of the dirty grouting on the wall tiles. Glass is not necessary more ex compared to stainless steel, cos stainless steel using also have grade, cutting, etc.... 6mm coloured tempered glass should be ard $20~25psf.

Hi

I wonder whether 6mm glass is usable because usually ID quoted 10mm glass. Btw, if we were to put the glass backsplash, will oil overtime get into the back of the tempered glass and make it very unsightly? I used to have a dining and oil contact with bottom of glass and makes it look horrible.

I was quoted $180 for a 1m stainless steel backsplash.

Same price for glass.

Was told stainless steel is better as it's thinner

If you are installing the backsplash from wall to wall, then glass is nicer.

Stainless steel backsplash is more used for commecial kitchens whereas glass looks better in home kitchens. But to each his own :D !

My glass backsplash is black and as others have pointed out, you only install the backsplash AFTER yr electrical outlets / box / plugs are installed. Then the contractor will measure and cut the glass backsplash to fit exactly around the electrical power outlet(s).

See Black Glass Backsplash on my blog for example  .
