Buying Cooker Hob N Hood

Recommended Posts

Hi, need some advice on buying cooker hob n hood replacement.

1. On buying cooker hob, is it that not only we need to know the external dimensions of the present cooker hob, but the built-in dimensions as well?

2a. On buying the hood, is it that a 7-yr-old one is no longer that efficient? Rust has appeared on the present one and it may be safer to replace it although it is still in good working condition.

2b. Must the same brand always be bought so that it fit into the slot? Other brands may not fit in exactly.

3. How do you compare the EF brand and Elba brand?

Anyone can help to comment on some or all of the above points?

Thanks in advance!

We just had our kitchen renovated and we bought Elba brand for the whole cooking set. My friend recommended the brand and I'm loving the look it added to our new kitchen. I hope this helps. Good luck!

Hi,

More questions:

1. Is the internal dimensions also known as the cut-out size?

2. Does it matter to get an electric-ignition one OR a battery-ignition one?

3. Will the supplier guys dismantle (unseal) your present old cooker hod and install (seal) your new cooker hod to your kitchen top, OR you have to get contractor or City Gas people to do it?

Thanks in advance!

1. yes. they are the same thing

2. if yours is electric-ignition, then need to get back electric; else, very troublesome

3. some do eg Courts; City Gas recommend that for gas hose that are 5-yr-old, it is better to change it
