9 Year Old Golden Retriever For Adoption

9 year old Male Golden Retriever for adoption. He is paper trained, very obedient, mild tempered do simple tricks like sit, roll over, stay, no health problems and good with children. He will make a wonderful companion.

My parents recently moved into a smaller flat its too small for him. I am not able to take him as I have three cats.

I feel saddened to learn that you have to put your dog up for adoption. Personally, i feel that even if you or your parents have moved into a smaller unit, giving up your 9 year old dog should not be considered as an option even if it meant keeping him illegally. For a 9yo relationship, i think its just too much to give up on. Depression may set in for your dog when he realise that you or your parents have given up on him. Moreover, if he is that well-trained and obedient, i should think the neighbours would have no problem warming up to him.

As a word of advice, i would not recommend sending your dog to SPCA. SPCA generally finds it easier to re-home dogs that are HDB approved or are younger/healthy. For dogs that are deem "un-adoptable", they might just put them to sleep due to limited capacity and resources.

With this in mind, if you still have to take the heart-wrenching choice of putting your dog up for adoption, i really hope he'll be able to find a good owner.

Yes, it really hurts me to let him go as he is very obedient and has never received any complains form the place he used to stay and even now where all the neighbours are Malays. If not for my 3 cats, he will be staying with me, before this post I have tried to convince my MIL for 3 weeks that he is not giving any trouble and since thats the case, why not just look after him all the way? But she is determined to let him go, even after so many years of looking after him.

My MIL actually intended to let him go on the streets! And that pisses me off immediately! SPCA has never crossed my mind as I know they might just let him go due to his age as the main consideration. I just hope a good dog loving owner can help me with this situation.
